Farmer ID Now Mandatory for PM Kisan Yojana: Camps to Be Set Up Soon

Key Highlights:

  • Farmer ID is now mandatory for PM Kisan Yojana benefits.
  • Camps will be set up for Farmer ID registration.
  • No fee for creating Farmer ID, available online and offline.
  • Deadline extended to January 31, 2025, for registration.
  • Required documents: Aadhaar, mobile number, land papers.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) Yojana, one of the most popular schemes for farmers, has made a significant change. Now, farmers must have a Farmer ID (Kisan Card) to receive the benefits of this scheme. Under PM Kisan, farmers get ₹6000 every year from the government, paid in three equal installments. However, without the Farmer ID, farmers will not receive the next installment of financial aid.

After Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh has now also made it mandatory for farmers to have a Farmer ID. To assist farmers in getting their IDs, the government has announced that camps will be set up soon for registration.

What is Farmer ID and How Can You Get One?

The Farmer ID (Kisan Card) is a unique identification issued to farmers, which links them to government schemes such as PM Kisan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Mandhan Yojana, and more. Farmers can also avail agricultural loans and crop sale benefits at minimum support prices through this ID.

Steps to Create Farmer ID:

  1. Camps will be organized for farmers to get their IDs made.
  2. An amount of ₹15,000 will be provided for each camp to speed up the process.
  3. The government has extended the deadline to January 31, 2025, giving farmers more time to get their Farmer ID made.

Benefits of Getting a Farmer ID

The Farmer ID is a must-have for availing various government schemes and subsidies. Once farmers have this ID, they can easily access benefits like:

  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (financial aid)
  • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (crop insurance)
  • Agricultural loans and crop sales at minimum support prices

Cost of Creating Farmer ID

Farmers can create their Farmer ID or Kisan Card for free. The government does not charge any fees for this service. Farmers can either visit the nearest camp or do it themselves from their mobile phones.
