Escorts Kubota Limited, a leading agri-machinery and construction equipment manufacturer, has launched the Powertrac Shaurya tractor series, a new “South Special” paddy tractor range designed specifically for wetland farming in Southern India.
The newly introduced series includes five variants in the 39 HP to 52 HP category and marks the first dedicated paddy-focused tractor lineup under the Powertrac brand. The tractors have been developed especially for the major paddy-growing states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, helping the company strengthen its presence in an important mechanization segment.

Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in the Indian market, each targeting a different customer segment:
Kubota - Premium tractor segment
Farmtrac - Entry-premium segment
Powertrac - Value and mass segment
Among these, Powertrac represents the company’s value-focused brand that serves farmers across multiple agricultural applications.
The Powertrac Shaurya series has been engineered specifically for paddy cultivation and wetland operations, where tractors must operate in waterlogged and muddy field conditions.
To ensure reliability in such environments, the tractors feature cassette-type sealing across critical aggregates. This technology helps prevent water and mud from entering key mechanical components, allowing smoother and more dependable performance during paddy operations.
Another key feature is the sharp 3.1-metre turning radius, which improves manoeuvrability in small and medium-sized agricultural fields, a common characteristic of farms in Southern India.
The Shaurya series is equipped with several advanced features designed to support paddy cultivation and improve operational efficiency.
The tractors come with a fully constant mesh gearbox with 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears, enabling smooth gear shifting and better control during field operations.
Depending on the variant, the tractors offer Sensi-1 hydraulic lift capacity ranging from 1600 kg to 2000 kg, allowing farmers to operate various paddy farming implements efficiently.
The Shaurya tractors are equipped with an independent PTO lever combined with a double clutch system, which allows better implement control during farming operations.
The PTO system also includes:
Dual PTO speeds (540 / 1000 RPM)
Reverse PTO functionality
These features support multiple paddy farming applications, including advanced equipment such as balers.
To improve usability and safety in flooded fields, the tractors include:
Perforated elevated platform designed specifically for paddy field operations
Protected wiring harness routed inside the fender channel to safeguard electrical systems in wet environments
Adjustable sliding seat with anti-slip pads to enhance operator comfort during long working hours
Together, these design elements help the tractor perform reliably in demanding wetland conditions.
Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota, highlighted the importance of Southern India in the company’s growth strategy. He stated that the launch of the Shaurya series supports the company’s focus on high-quality, application-led products designed for regional farming needs, particularly in paddy cultivation markets.
Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, explained that the company’s product development approach begins with real field conditions rather than standard tractor platforms. According to him, the Shaurya tractors have been engineered specifically for paddy and wetland operations in Southern markets to ensure dependable performance in challenging environments.
Bharat Madan, Whole-time Director and CFO, said that the new series strengthens Escorts Kubota’s participation in the paddy farming segment while also improving the regional balance of the company’s tractor portfolio. He added that expanding in application-driven agricultural segments is important for maintaining strong product offerings across different market cycles.
With the launch of the Powertrac Shaurya series, Escorts Kubota is aiming to deepen its presence in the paddy mechanization segment of Southern India. The new tractors are designed to meet the specific needs of farmers working in wetland conditions, where specialized machinery plays a crucial role in improving productivity and reliability.
By introducing a dedicated paddy-focused tractor range, the company is expanding its portfolio with machines tailored for regional farming practices and supporting the growing demand for efficient mechanized solutions in paddy cultivation.
The launch of the Powertrac Shaurya series marks an important step for Escorts Kubota Limited as it strengthens its focus on region-specific agricultural solutions. Designed especially for wetland paddy farming in Southern India, the new tractor range combines reliable engineering, improved manoeuvrability, and operator-friendly features. With this ‘South Special’ series under the Powertrac brand, the company aims to support paddy growers while expanding its presence in key southern agricultural markets.
