Mustard and groundnut to get Bhavantar Yojana benefits.
Farmers to receive MSP difference directly in bank accounts.
Weather-based crop insurance to protect against natural losses.
Fertilizer home delivery to improve farmer convenience.
Digital mandis and drone support to boost modern farming.
The Madhya Pradesh government is preparing to expand the Bhavantar Yojana to provide fair prices to more farmers. After soybeans, farmers growing mustard and groundnuts (peanuts) are also likely to benefit under this scheme. Cooperation Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang made several important announcements during a discussion in the Assembly on December 17.

The Cooperation Minister informed the Assembly that the state government is working on an action plan to include mustard and groundnut in the Bhavantar Yojana. The main aim of this step is to ensure that farmers receive the full benefit of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on these crops.
Under the Bhavantar Yojana, farmers are paid the difference between the market price and the MSP directly into their bank accounts. This helps farmers avoid losses and guarantees them a fair price for their produce. The minister said this is the only scheme of its kind in the country that offers such direct support.
The Cooperation Minister also announced that the state will soon launch a weather-based crop insurance scheme. This scheme will protect farmers from losses caused by natural disasters such as excessive rainfall, drought, hailstorms, and other weather-related problems.
In addition, the government is working on a plan to start home delivery of fertilizers. This will help farmers get fertilizers easily without running from one place to another.
Highlighting the progress of the agricultural sector, the minister said the state has linked the Green Revolution, White Revolution, and Blue Revolution, which have delivered positive results.
The total agricultural area has increased from 19.9 million hectares in 2002-03 to 29.7 million hectares in 2024-25.
The area under horticulture has grown from 4.67 lakh hectares to 26.36 lakh hectares during the same period.
He also shared that through better implementation of the Bhavantar Yojana, the state has saved nearly ₹1,600 crore by reducing administrative expenses, an achievement unmatched by any other state.

The Cooperation Minister informed the Assembly about several schemes being implemented for farmers’ welfare, including:
Mukhyamantri Krishi Unnati Yojana
Rani Durgavati Shrianna Protsahan Yojana
e-Vikas (Fertilizer Distribution and Supply System)
Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)
National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF)
He said the government is actively promoting natural and organic farming, and farmers interest in these practices is increasing rapidly.
The minister said Madhya Pradesh holds a leading position at the national level in agricultural production:
Second in the country in wheat acreage
First in maize and lentil acreage
Second in gram and black gram production
He credited this success to farmers’ hard work and effective government schemes.
The entire e-mandi process has been digitized, making trading more transparent and farmer-friendly. The state has ranked first in the country in implementing the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund Scheme, and e-market facilities have been introduced in all 298 sub-markets.
Under the Namo Drone Didi Scheme, 1,066 agricultural drones will be provided to women self-help groups next year to promote employment and self-reliance. The government is also developing a CBG plant-based business model to use crop stubble as an alternative energy source.
The Cooperation Minister also announced that 2026 will be celebrated as the “Year of Agriculture” in the state.
These announcements clearly show that the Madhya Pradesh government is strengthening agricultural support and creating new opportunities to improve farmers’ income and economic security in the coming years.
The expansion of the Bhavantar Yojana to include mustard and groundnut marks a major step towards ensuring fair income for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. Along with MSP protection, weather-based crop insurance, fertilizer home delivery, digital mandis, and women-led drone initiatives, the government is strengthening the agriculture sector. These measures will boost farmer confidence, reduce losses, promote sustainability, and further improve the state’s strong position in agricultural production.
