ZELIO Ebikes, a Haryana-based electric vehicle manufacturer, has entered the e-rickshaw market by presenting its first two models, branded Tanga by ZELIO, at the EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi. The firm, which has mostly concentrated on electric two-wheelers since its inception in 2021, announced its expansion into the shared mobility category at the international electric motor vehicle exhibition.
Focus on Shared Mobility Solutions
The EV India Expo presented an opportunity for ZELIO to showcase its electric vehicle innovations among manufacturers of electric automobiles, motorcycles, buses, and other mobility solutions. The event focuses on next-generation transportation and environmental sustainability, with networking opportunities for both industry stakeholders and consumers.
Speaking at the event, Kunal Arya, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ZELIO Ebikes, highlighted the increasing demand for shared mobility solutions like e-rickshaws. These vehicles are widely used for last-mile connectivity and affordable transport in urban and semi-urban regions.
Expansion Plans and Dealership Network
ZELIO aims to apply its expertise in electric two-wheelers to the e-rickshaw (electric three wheelers) category, focusing on innovation, reliability, and sustainability. The company also plans to establish a dedicated dealership network to offer specialised support and services for e-rickshaw customers.
Showcase of Tanga Models and Two-Wheelers
In addition to introducing the Tanga models, ZELIO displayed its current lineup of low-speed electric two-wheelers, which includes the GRACY, Eeva, and X-Men series. Two of its most recent models, the improved X-Men 2.0 and the high-speed Mystery electric scooter, drew attention for their performance and exterior.
Expanding Reach in India
Since its inception, ZELIO Ebikes has built a network of 256 dealerships across India, serving over 200,000 customers. The company aims to expand its dealership network to 400 by March 2025, further strengthening its position in the electric vehicle market.
