VECV Lands Mega Order for 150 Volvo 9600 Luxury Buses from Vijayanand Travels

Vijayanand Travels places the largest single private order for Volvo buses in India, with 70-80 coaches set to feature onboard washrooms for long-distance routes.

Vijayanand Travels Private Limited (VTPL) has placed an order for 150 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches with Volvo Buses India. The order marks the largest single procurement of Volvo buses by any private bus operator in India.

The vehicle handover ceremony was held in Bengaluru on Friday. With this major order, VTPL said its operational Volvo bus fleet will reach the highest volume among private fleet operators in the country.

70-80 Volvo Buses to Get Factory-Fitted Washrooms

A major highlight of the order is that around 70 to 80 Volvo 9600 coaches will come with factory-installed onboard washrooms.

These luxury sleeper buses will be used for long-haul interstate travel across South, West and Central India, offering greater convenience to passengers travelling on longer routes.

Volvo 9600 Sleeper Coach: Engine and Specifications

The Volvo 9600 sleeper coaches are manufactured at VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) assembly facility in Hoskote, Karnataka.

The bus offers:

• 40 sleeper berths

• 8.5 cubic metres of luggage capacity

• 8-litre Volvo D8K diesel engine

• 260 kW (350 HP) power at 2,200 RPM

• 1,350 Nm peak torque

The combination of sleeper accommodation, luggage space and powerful engine performance makes the Volvo 9600 suitable for premium long-distance intercity operations.

VTPL Strengthens Its Premium Bus Fleet

Commenting on the order, Shiva Sankeshwar, Managing Director of Vijayanand Travels Private Limited, said that the purchase of 150 Volvo buses will significantly strengthen the company's fleet.

He highlighted that this is the largest single order placed by any private bus operator with Volvo.
