  • 500 EV buses to operate across Noida and YEIDA region.

  • Uttar Pradesh targets 10,000 EV charging stations by 2030.

  • Land acquisition accelerated for key expressway projects.

The Uttar Pradesh government is rapidly expanding electric mobility, expressway connectivity and infrastructure projects as preparations intensify for the upcoming operations at Noida International Airport in Jewar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to strengthen public transport systems and accelerate key development works before the airport begins flight operations, which are proposed to start from June 15.

110 Electric Buses To Improve Airport Connectivity

To improve transportation access to the upcoming Jewar airport, the state government plans to deploy 110 electric buses in the first phase. The announcement was made during the fourth meeting of the State Transformation Commission, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed several infrastructure and mobility projects linked to the airport region.

The government is preparing to operate a larger fleet of 500 electric buses across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region in the coming phase.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of strengthening public transport before airport operations begin.

He instructed officials to ensure that the transport network is fully prepared ahead of the proposed flight launch from June 15 so that passengers can experience smooth and efficient connectivity.

Uttar Pradesh Expands EV Charging Infrastructure

Along with expanding electric bus operations, the state government is also focusing on building a stronger EV charging network across Uttar Pradesh.

Officials informed the meeting that the state currently has nearly 15.5 lakh registered electric vehicles. To support the growing EV market, Uttar Pradesh has set a target of establishing 10,000 EV charging stations by the year 2030.

At present, around 2,500 charging stations are already operational in different parts of the state.

The government believes that expanding EV infrastructure will encourage faster adoption of electric vehicles while also supporting cleaner and sustainable transportation solutions.

Focus On Faster Expressway Development

The Uttar Pradesh government also reviewed the progress of multiple expressway projects during the meeting. Special attention was given to speeding up land acquisition and project execution timelines.

Officials have been directed to complete land acquisition work for the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Jhansi Link Expressway by the end of June.

According to government officials, around 55 percent of land acquisition has already been completed for the Farrukhabad Link Expressway project.

In another important development, the alignment for the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway has received approval, and authorities are now preparing an action plan for land acquisition.

Infrastructure Push To Support Industrial Growth

The state government said that improved road connectivity and transport infrastructure are expected to boost industrial development and attract new investments across Uttar Pradesh.

During the meeting, officials also reviewed the progress of logistics hubs, urban infrastructure initiatives and industrial projects linked to the state’s long-term growth plans.

Projects such as the proposed Seed Park, Textile Park and Defence Corridor were also discussed as part of the broader industrial expansion strategy.

Dedicated Monitoring Cell For Faster Execution

To improve project monitoring and execution, officials were instructed to strengthen the review mechanism under the state government’s ‘CM Samiksha’ programme.

The government plans to establish a dedicated monitoring cell that will track the progress of important infrastructure and industrial projects to ensure timely completion.

With the upcoming launch of Jewar airport, Uttar Pradesh is now accelerating its focus on electric mobility, expressway connectivity and industrial infrastructure to position itself as a major economic and logistics hub in the country.
