Toyota Kirloskar Motor Marks Environment Month 2025 with Green Logistics and Sustainability Push

Key Highlights:

  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched 17 electric trucks on five key supply routes.
  • Over 3,100 participants joined the Environment Month 2025 activities.
  • The company showcased eco-friendly products.
  • Students from the Toyota Technical Training Institute presented more than 30 sustainability models.
  • TKM conducted awareness drives, expert sessions, and tree plantations to build a culture of sustainability.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) wrapped up Environment Month 2025 with a strong commitment to green logistics and sustainable practices. Over 3,100 people from the company’s value chain, including employees, dealers, suppliers, and community members, took part in a month-long initiative focused on environmental awareness and action.

Electric Trucks Flagged Off

A major highlight of the campaign was the launch of electric truck operations. TKM flagged off 17 electric trucks through its logistics partner. These trucks will run across five key supply routes, reducing emissions and helping the company work toward its global Environmental Challenge 2050 goals.

This move supports the global Environmental Challenge 2050 framework, which focuses on reducing carbon dioxide emissions throughout a vehicle's entire life cycle, from production to logistics.

Theme: Sustainable Resource Management Drive

The campaign was themed "Sustainable Resource Management Drive" and promoted resource efficiency and plastic elimination. Using zero-base thinking, Toyota worked to improve sustainability in everyday operations.

Strengthening Green Logistics

TKM has already introduced steps like the Mixed Logistics Model and Return Logistics Reduction. These efforts aim to reduce carbon emissions by limiting empty trips and streamlining delivery routes. The new electric trucks contribute to this progress by reducing tailpipe emissions and enhancing energy efficiency in transport. The company has also added CNG-powered trucks to its fleet in the past, further supporting cleaner logistics.

Green Exhibition Showcases Eco Lifestyle

As part of the campaign, TKM held a green exhibition at its Bidadi plant. Hosted through the company’s Sustainovation Hub, the event featured a wide range of eco-friendly lifestyle products. These included biodegradable items, sustainable textiles, and reusable packaging. Home care and personal care products, groceries, and cleaning solutions made from natural materials were all showcased to promote chemical-free and sustainable living.

Students Present Sustainability Models

In a special segment, students from the Toyota Technical Training Institute presented more than 30 eco-models. These models focused on themes like waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency. The students used only waste materials and zero-cost items to build their projects, with support from TKM experts.

Employee Engagement and Green Awareness

TKM organised expert talks, tree plantation drives, eco-idea contests, and awareness campaigns throughout the month. These events aimed to build a culture of environmental responsibility among all stakeholders.

Leadership insights:

B. Padmanabha, Executive Vice President and Director of Manufacturing, said, "At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we see sustainability as a shared responsibility. Environment Month 2025 reflects our combined efforts across the value chain to achieve carbon neutrality. From green logistics and sustainable living to youth engagement and community participation, we are working together to build a resilient and eco-friendly future."

TKM’s Manufacturing Capacity

Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates two production plants in Bidadi, Karnataka.

Plant 1: Started in 1999, produces Innova Crysta, Innova HyCross, Fortuner, and Legender with a capacity of 132,000 units.

Plant 2: Began in 2010, manufactures Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux with a capacity of 210,000 units.

Together, the plants have a total production capacity of 342,000 units per year.

CMV360 Says

Toyota’s Environment Month 2025 campaign is an example of how large manufacturers can lead environmental change. The launch of the electric truck and community involvement demonstrate that TKM is serious about sustainability, not just in its products, but across the entire value chain. This integrated approach is impactful as India moves toward greener goals.
