Tata Motors Launches Education Schemes for Technicians' Children

Key Highlights:

  • Tata Motors launched two education schemes for technicians' children in India.
  • The 'Vidyadhan' program offers concessional education loans for higher studies.
  • The 'Utkarsha' program provides annual scholarships to girls, transgenders, and specially-abled children.
  • Education loans cover up to 95% of domestic fees and up to 85% of international fees.
  • Scholarships offer Rs 25,000 annually for those scoring at least 60% in grades 10 or 12.

Tata Motors has established two plans this month to help the children of its technicians who work in manufacturing facilities around India, including plants in Pune, Lucknow, Jamshedpur, Dharwad, Sanand, and Pantnagar.

Under the 'Vidyadhan' scheme, education loans at concessional rates are made accessible to youngsters who have successfully completed grades 10 and 12. With 'Utkarsha', girls, transgenders, and disabled youngsters will also benefit from annual scholarships.

Sitaram Kandi, Tata Motors' Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), stated, "Quality education is essential for success and development. With these programs, we are making higher education more accessible and allowing the next generation of our diligent technicians to pursue their own and their parents' aspirations. While the youngsters can focus on studying beyond grades 10 and 12, in any profession of their choice, their parents no longer have to worry about the financial requirements. With the proper certifications and skills, they will have better chances of establishing a successful job and life."

Vidyadhan, an education loan program, serves as a transformative bridge to higher learning, helping the next generation to reach their full potential. Eligible technicians can get loans of up to Rs. 7.5 lakh, which covers up to 95% of domestic tuition fees and up to 85% of overseas study fees.

These loans are being offered in partnership with State Bank of India, and Tata Motors will provide reductions on the interest rate charged by SBI - 50% lower for boys and 70% lower for girls, transgender individuals and particularly abled youngsters.

To be eligible, the student must be enrolled in a full-time graduate or postgraduate study of at least two years and connected with recognized universities or AICTE-equivalent institutions in India or overseas.

The 'Utkarsha' program would grant a Rs 25,000 scholarship annually to support the further education of girls, transgender individuals, and specially abled youngsters who have completed grades 10 or 12. To be eligible, applicants must have scored at least 60% and been accepted into a recognized university or AICTE-equivalent institution in India or overseas.
