Routematic Launches COCO Rides Shuttle Service in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Hub to Ease Commute

Key Highlights

  • 70+ routes and 500+ boarding points covered.

  • Fleet of 80+ buses deployed initially.

  • Targets 1.25 lakh employees across 80+ companies.

  • Daily capacity of up to 20,000 commuters.

  • App-based booking with fixed routes, fares, and schedules.

In a major step to improve daily office travel, Routematic has launched its app-based employee shuttle service, COCO Rides, in Hinjawadi. The new service aims to solve rising commuting problems in the area with fixed routes, schedules, and fares.

Service Launched in Partnership with Industry Bodies

The COCO Rides service has been introduced in collaboration with the Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA). It is also supported by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

This joint effort is designed to bring a more structured and reliable commuting solution for employees working in Hinjawadi.

Coverage: 70+ Routes and 500+ Boarding Points

The service rollout includes a fleet of over 80 buses that will operate across more than 70 routes. These routes will cover over 500 boarding points, connecting major residential areas in Pune to office locations in Hinjawadi.

COCO Rides is expected to serve over 1.25 lakh employees from more than 80 companies associated with HIA. The system is built to handle a daily ridership of up to 20,000 commuters, making it a large-scale, organized transport solution.

Fully App-Based and Employee-Only Access

COCO Rides works as a fully digital platform. Employees can book seats through a mobile app by selecting fixed routes, timings, and pricing options.

However, the service is limited to employees of HIA member companies. Users must register using their corporate credentials and choose their preferred pickup points to access the service.

Addressing Pune’s Rising Traffic Problem

The launch comes at a time when traffic congestion in Pune is becoming a serious concern. According to the TomTom Traffic Index 2025, Pune is the second-most congested city in India and ranks fifth globally, with congestion levels at 71.1%.

On average, commuters spend 34 minutes to travel 10 km, leading to nearly 158 hours of delays annually. These challenges have increased the demand for reliable and efficient office transport systems.

Real-Time Monitoring for Better Efficiency

Routematic has integrated a central command system to monitor operations in real time. This setup is expected to improve service reliability and consistency compared to informal commuting options like carpooling or unstructured shuttle services.

The company stated that COCO Rides is part of its broader plan to introduce structured, high-capacity transport solutions in busy urban business hubs.

With fixed routes, digital booking, and large-scale capacity, COCO Rides is set to transform how employees commute in Hinjawadi, offering a more organized and time-saving alternative to daily travel challenges.
