• Flexibility with both Level 2 AC and DC Fast Charging systems.

RIZON, Daimler Truck's new all-electric vehicle brand, has announced the Canadian debut of its class 4-5 vehicles. The RIZON brand was introduced in Canada for the first time at Truck World in Toronto and preorders will begin in June 2024.
RIZON trucks made their debut in the United States in 2023 at the ACT Expo in Anaheim, California, and are presently operating on American streets for a wide spectrum of consumers.
The Canadian government has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and has set up an incentive program to encourage fleets to electrify. Companies and governments are now looking into sustainable fleet choices to address environmental issues and improve operational efficiency.
"Canada is very advanced in terms of green energy and infrastructure, and it is a natural next step for RIZON's second market. So, we are very happy to bring our zero-emission solution to Canadian customers," stated Andreas Deuschle, Global Head of RIZON Truck.
Model Variants
RIZON will provide four model variants for Canadian clients: the e16L, e16M, e18L, and e18M, with a different combination of configurations and options to meet each customer's specific needs, ranging from 15,995 to 18,850 pounds in gross vehicle weight (GVW).
The vehicles can go up to 257 kilometers (L size variant with three battery packs) and 177 kilometers (M size variant with two battery packs) on a single charge.
RIZON trucks can be charged using two types of battery charging systems: Level 2 AC Charging via a J1772 connector and DC Fast Charging with a CCS1 connector.
Applications of Electric Truck
They are appropriate for a range of applications, including dry vans, flatbeds, landscape dumps, and reefers, and have an electric power take-off (ePTO) that can be controlled from the cab and accommodates specific equipment such as reefer belt drives and hydraulic pumps.
In addition to adaptability, RIZON trucks feature superior passive and active safety measures to protect drivers, passengers, and the communities in which they travel. Drivers can feel more secure in stop-and-go traffic and congested urban areas thanks to Daimler Truck's safety technology, which includes Active Brake Assist and Active Side Guard Assist.
Cold-weather performance is a major consideration while running EVs in Canada. RIZON trucks include an electric preconditioning capability that uses grid power to get the batteries to the proper temperature before operation.
This function enables automobiles to operate more efficiently in cold weather. They also include heated equipment for the driver's comfort, such as a heated seat, steering wheel, and windshield.
