Planet Electric, a Delhi-based e-mobility startup, is preparing to debut its first electric vehicle, maybe in June this year. This startup is led by two former ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) engineers.
The company will integrate weight sensors into the vehicle's telematics system. This system promises real-time load weight updates and the resulting influence on the vehicle's driving range.
By providing real-time data on cargo weight and its impact on range, the company hopes to improve loading capacity and route planning. This can lead to significant cost savings and better logistical management for organizations. This built-in weight tracking technology has the potential to significantly improve logistical efficiency in the EV category.
Planet Electric's co-founder and CEO, Gagan Agrawal, stated, "Planet Electric will be the first in the industry to put weight sensors or load cells in the cargo box, which means that as parcels come in and go out, we know exactly what the weight is and what the range is."
He went on to say that this would allow the fleet operator, financier, and insurance to assess the battery's performance, which is 'essential for these vehicles'.
Agrawal also suggested that they could detect inconsistencies, such as temperature fluctuations, and then change the software accordingly.
Agrawal explained that Planet Electric made sure they had backup plans for their supply chain to keep everything running smoothly. Whether it's the batteries or the motors, they teamed up with good partners to make sure they always have what they need.
For example, they got the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) from a company called Dorle Controls, which has offices in Michigan and Pune. This helps them make sure their electric vehicles keep running smoothly.
