Key Highlights:
LeafyBus, a premium electric bus operator based in Delhi, has partnered with non-banking finance company AMU to launch a fleet of 10 electric buses for inter-city travel.
These buses will initially operate on high-demand routes, including the busy Delhi-Dehradun corridor. The collaboration aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance travel and offer passengers a more affordable, eco-friendly transport option.
Advanced Safety Features in New Electric Buses
The new buses come with a variety of safety features, including CCTV surveillance, real-time tracking, and an onboard "Bus Buddy" for passenger assistance. They also include Driver Monitoring Systems and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems to ensure safe operations during travel, according to LeafyBus.
Expansion Plans with JBM Electric Vehicles
In addition to this partnership, LeafyBus recently collaborated with JBM Electric Vehicles to procure 200 more electric buses. The first 50 of these are expected to roll out within the next year, further boosting the company’s expansion.
Leaders Statements on the Partnership
Rohan Dewan, Founder and CEO of LeafyBus, emphasized the company's commitment to making electric travel common across India. "Partnering with AMU helps us get closer to this goal by making it easier for people to travel between cities in an eco-friendly way," he said.
Nehal Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of AMU, expressed confidence in the partnership. "By empowering LeafyBus to expand their fleet, we are enabling cleaner transport solutions that positively impact both the environment and the future of mobility," she said.
India's Growing Electric Bus Market
The demand for electric buses in India is increasing as cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru look for cleaner public transportation solutions. The Indian government’s initiatives, such as the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme, have also encouraged the shift toward sustainable mobility.
Major bus manufacturers like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland are ramping up production to meet this growing demand, helping the country reduce air pollution and reliance on fossil fuels.
