The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has issued its first compliance certificate for a 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus, marking an important development for advanced long-distance passenger transport in India.
The certificate was awarded to Synaty Automotive Pvt. Ltd. for its 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus under AIS-119 and AIS-153, in line with the applicable provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR). ICAT Director Saurabh Dalela formally handed over the certificate to Synaty Automotive Managing Director Naresh Kumar Yadav in the presence of senior ICAT officials.
The newly certified bus has been designed specifically for long-distance passenger transportation. Its certification covers key requirements related to structural strength, emergency safety, fire safety, passenger movement, accommodation and travel comfort.
The fully sleeper version of the bus offers 42 berths. Synaty Automotive also offers a hybrid configuration with 21 berths and 42 seats, providing flexibility for different intercity and long-route passenger transport requirements.
The 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus was tested and certified against applicable automotive standards and CMVR provisions. The evaluation covered vehicle safety, structural integrity, passenger accommodation and comfort.
According to ICAT, certification under AIS-119 and AIS-153 highlights its capability to assess advanced passenger vehicle configurations and help manufacturers meet prescribed regulatory and technical requirements.
ICAT provides testing, certification and homologation services to the Indian automotive industry across areas such as vehicle safety, regulatory compliance and technological requirements. The certification of Synaty Automotive's 15-metre sleeper bus adds another milestone to its work in supporting the development and approval of advanced commercial passenger vehicles in India.
