JEM launches 10-ft and 20-ft containerised BESS units.
Storage capacity ranges from 241 kWh to 3 MWh, modular and air-cooled.
First commercial unit deployed with GMMCO at Greenlit, Mumbai.
Fully integrated in-house production in Indore and Bangalore.
Expansion plans: 5 GWh annual capacity, export to Africa, liquid-cooled systems for grids.
Supports India’s Net Zero 2070 and renewable energy growth.
Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of Jupiter Wagons Limited, has entered the clean energy storage sector with the launch of its 10-foot and 20-foot containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This strategic move expands JEM’s portfolio beyond railway wagons and mobility solutions into sustainable energy.
JEM’s new BESS units offer storage capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. Designed to be modular and air-cooled, these systems can serve multiple purposes:
Replacing diesel generators
Storing solar power
Shifting energy efficiently
Providing backup power to commercial and industrial clients
The systems are built to last, with a 10-year operational life, ensuring reliability and durability for long-term use.
JEM has already delivered its first 10-foot BESS unit in collaboration with GMMCO, a CK Birla Group company. The unit has been deployed at Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube serving the events, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
Both JEM and GMMCO plan to expand their partnership, aiming to bring more sustainable energy storage solutions to clients across India.
A major strength of JEM’s BESS offering is its in-house development. From container fabrication to battery production and system integration, every component is designed and manufactured at JEM’s facilities in Indore and Bangalore. This makes JEM one of the few Indian companies offering a fully integrated energy storage solution.
The company plans to increase its Indore plant capacity from 1 GWh to 5 GWh annually over the next three years. In addition, the first 20-foot BESS unit will be exported to Africa in October, and JEM intends to introduce liquid-cooled systems for large-scale grid applications.
JEM and GMMCO leaders emphasized that these BESS units meet global standards and support India’s transition toward renewable energy. The launch aligns with India’s Net Zero 2070 vision and addresses the growing demand for reliable renewable energy storage solutions.

Jupiter Electric Mobility’s launch of containerised BESS units marks a major step in India’s clean energy journey. With modular, durable, and fully in-house developed systems, JEM addresses growing renewable storage needs, supports sustainable industrial operations, and aligns with India’s Net Zero 2070 vision. Their expansion plans and international exports further strengthen India’s position in global energy storage solutions.
