International Tractors Limited (ITL), India’s No. 1 tractor export brand and the company behind Sonalika Tractors, is set to establish a new 25-acre Global Research & Development (R&D) Centre in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The proposed facility is planned as an advanced global engineering hub focused on developing future-ready tractor technologies and farmer-centric agricultural solutions. The announcement follows a meeting between Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and ITL management in Lucknow on August 14, 2026.
The new greenfield R&D facility is part of ITL’s long-term plan to strengthen its research and engineering capabilities. The company said the centre will build on its nearly three-decade journey of transforming agriculture through its ‘Jeetne ka DUM’ philosophy.
The Greater Noida centre will bring together engineering expertise and practical insights from farmers. This approach is expected to help ITL develop agricultural technologies and solutions suited to the requirements of both Indian and global markets.
The project also aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s growing position as a destination for technology-led industrial investment. ITL expects the facility to support the state’s wider innovation ecosystem through advanced engineering, skill development, employment generation and technology-driven industrial growth.
The proposed centre is expected to become a key part of ITL’s next phase of agricultural innovation. The company aims to create a globally benchmarked institution for agricultural research and engineering.
Its focus will be on developing technologies that can help farmers improve productivity, support modern farming practices and address changing agricultural requirements across different markets.
By establishing the facility in Greater Noida, ITL also aims to strengthen its presence in Uttar Pradesh while creating a base for developing technologies from Uttar Pradesh for India and international markets.
Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said that meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was an honour and provided an opportunity to share ITL’s vision for the new 25-acre Global R&D Facility in Greater Noida.
He said the project marks an important step towards the next frontier of agricultural innovation for ITL. Mittal also expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s encouragement, confidence and leadership in supporting a business environment where companies can grow and innovate.
According to Mittal, the Chief Minister’s vision for a progressive and technology-driven Uttar Pradesh encourages ITL to think bigger, move faster and develop technologies for the future.
He added that ITL’s ambition is to build a globally benchmarked centre for agricultural research and innovation that develops technologies capable of empowering farmers, transforming agriculture and expanding the possibilities of modern farming.
The company’s broader vision is to build these solutions from Uttar Pradesh for India and the world, making the Greater Noida R&D centre an important part of its future growth and technology roadmap.
