Electric Buses and Mobility Infrastructure to Get Major Push

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Guidance Tamil Nadu, the group's e-mobility arm, OHM Global Mobility, will operationalize electric buses for public transport across Tamil Nadu. The initiative will also expand the group's wider mobility ecosystem, including battery charging networks, digital mobility services and automotive engineering.

The investment is expected to support the deployment of cleaner public transportation while creating a stronger infrastructure network for electric vehicles across the state.

Over 200 MW Clean Energy Projects Planned

To support its expanding clean mobility operations, Hinduja Renewables will develop more than 200 MW of solar, wind and battery storage projects.

These projects will be spread across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Coimbatore. The renewable energy capacity is expected to provide additional support to the group's electric mobility and charging infrastructure plans while contributing to Tamil Nadu's clean energy transition.

Hinduja Group Expands Existing Tamil Nadu Footprint

The latest ₹2,500 crore commitment further strengthens the Hinduja Group's established automotive and mobility presence in Tamil Nadu. Its operations in the state include Ashok Leyland, Switch Mobility, and engineering services company Hinduja Tech.

The announcement also builds on the group's earlier commitments to the state's EV ecosystem. In September 2025, Hinduja Group signed a separate ₹7,500 crore agreement for investments related to the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Ashok Leyland's ₹500 crore battery pack assembly plant in Pillaipakkam is currently under construction, adding another important component to the group's EV manufacturing and energy ecosystem.

Hinduja Group Reaffirms Confidence in Tamil Nadu

Commenting on the investment, Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India), said the ₹2,500 crore commitment reflects the group's confidence in Tamil Nadu and its intention to participate in the state's next phase of growth.

He highlighted Tamil Nadu's strong industrial base, skilled talent and renewable energy potential as key strengths supporting the group's investment plans.

With electric buses, charging infrastructure, digital mobility, automotive engineering and more than 200 MW of renewable energy projects planned, the latest investment is set to deepen the Hinduja Group's role in Tamil Nadu's transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility.
