  • The vehicle set a new India Book of Records for the longest distance by an electric three-wheeler without recharge.
  • The journey aimed to show that electric three-wheelers can handle long city and nearby area travel.

  • The vehicle comes with a 5-year battery warranty and a 3-year vehicle warranty.

Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has reached an impressive new milestone with its latest electric three-wheeler, the Eltra City XTRA. Recently, this vehicle completed an incredible 324-kilometre journey from Bengaluru, Karnataka, to Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, all on a single battery charge. This remarkable feat earned the Eltra City XTRA a place in the India Book of Records for the longest distance covered by an electric passenger three-wheeler on a single charge.

A Journey to Prove Electric Three-Wheeler Capability

The event, named "Freedom Ride 2.0," started at the Greaves Electric Mobility Tech Center in Bangalore and ended at the Ampere factory in Ranipet. The purpose of this journey was to demonstrate how electric three-wheelers can handle long-distance travel in real-world conditions. This is especially relevant for city and nearby suburban areas where reliable, efficient transport is critical.

Features and Performance of Eltra City XTRA

The Eltra City XTRA is powered by a 9.5 kW peak power motor and uses a robust 10.75 kWh IP67-rated lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Under typical operating conditions, which include a driver and three passengers, the vehicle offers a practical range of about 170 kilometres. It can reach a top speed of 60 kmph and carry a payload of up to 330 kilograms.

Additional features include 12-inch radial tyres for stability and comfort, a 6.2-inch PMVA digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity, and a charging time between 4 to 5 hours, making it suitable for daily use.

Reliability Backed by Strong Warranty

GEML provides a reassuring warranty package for the Eltra City XTRA, including a 5-year or 1.2 lakh kilometre warranty on the battery and a 3-year or 80,000 kilometre warranty on the vehicle itself. These warranties reflect the company’s confidence in the durability and quality of its product.

Leadership insights:

Vikas Singh, Managing Director of GEML, emphasized that this achievement showcases how electric vehicles like the Eltra City XTRA can support livelihoods by providing efficient transport options. He also pointed out the importance of electric mobility in India's broader goals to reduce pollution and move toward cleaner transportation solutions.

Manoj M P, Chief Business Officer at GEML, highlighted that the Eltra City XTRA was created to offer dependable and high-performance mobility solutions to everyday users. This new model builds upon the success of its predecessor, the Eltra City, which completed a 225-km journey from Bangalore to Mysore last year.

CMV360 Says

The Eltra City XTRA’s record-breaking shows that electric three-wheelers are becoming more reliable and capable of handling longer distances than ever before. This not only benefits daily commuters but also supports small businesses relying on affordable transport. As battery technology and vehicle design improve, electric three-wheelers like this could play a major role in reducing pollution and making urban transport cleaner and more sustainable.
