As of 23 November 2025, the government has disbursed ₹1,634.62 crore in subsidies. This financial support is helping India move faster toward clean, efficient, and sustainable mobility.
The continued subsidy push shows a strong government commitment to boosting electric vehicle adoption across the country.
The government has allocated ₹500 crore specifically for e-ambulances to improve emergency medical response. All stakeholder consultations are complete, and guidelines for implementation are ready. The PM E-DRIVE Scheme has now been extended till 31 March 2028 for e-ambulances and all segments, except:
E-2Ws and E-3Ws — support available only till 31 March 2026
This extension provides more time for wider EV adoption, especially in critical sectors like healthcare and public transport.

A total of ₹2,000 crore has been earmarked for setting up EV public charging infrastructure (EVPCI). However, no grants have been disbursed so far.
Two major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have submitted proposals to install EV charging stations under the scheme. Guidelines have also been shared with all States and UTs to support faster setup of charging points.
To strengthen urban public transport, the PM E-DRIVE Scheme has approved a significant number of electric buses for key Indian cities:
Mumbai – 1,500 e-buses
Delhi – 2,800 e-buses
Pune – 1,000 e-buses
These allocations will help reduce pollution, improve travel comfort, and support long-term sustainable mobility in urban areas.
The PM E-DRIVE Scheme continues to play a crucial role in India’s electric mobility journey. With large subsidy outflows, extended support timelines, a push for e-ambulances, and major e-bus allocations, the scheme is shaping the future of clean transport. While charging infrastructure funds remain unused, upcoming proposals from OMCs show that progress is underway.
The latest updates on the PM E-DRIVE Scheme show a strong government commitment toward clean mobility. With major subsidies released, extended support timelines, and dedicated funds for e-ambulances and charging infrastructure, the scheme is pushing India closer to large-scale EV adoption. The allocation of thousands of e-buses to major cities further strengthens public transport electrification. While charging grants are still pending, submitted proposals indicate that nationwide EV infrastructure growth will soon accelerate.
