Godrej & Boyce introduced lithium-ion battery-powered forklifts with an indigenously developed Battery Management System (BMS). The new battery systems is developed in collaboration with Log9 Materials.

Battery Management System combines lithium-ion cells with 30% localized production with a patented Battery Management System (BMS) wholly designed and manufactured in India.

The company has set a target of 100% cell localization by next year. The solution meets a major demand in the Indian material handling industry by offering a self-sufficient and secure Li-Ion battery system. The company claims it is the first of its sort from an Indian manufacturer.

The company intends to apply this technique to other material handling devices. Automobile, fast-moving consumer goods, consumer durables, retail, including e-commerce, medicines, and other significant manufacturing industries stand to benefit.
