Fresh Bus has launched an electric AC sleeper bus service between Bengaluru and Hyderabad, marking its first long-haul intercity route. Covering more than 600 km, the new service is designed to demonstrate how electric buses can be used for longer intercity journeys with ultra-fast charging support.
The Bengaluru-Hyderabad route will use ultra-fast charging halts during the journey. Fresh Bus claims it is the first intercity electric bus operator to deploy this charging technology on the corridor.
A mid-journey halt will also give passengers time to take a break and access restroom facilities. The route connects two major technology and business hubs and is expected to attract passengers travelling for education, leisure, and friends-and-family visits.
Fresh Bus founder and CEO Sudhakar Chirra said the corridor gives the company an opportunity to take its electric intercity operations beyond shorter routes. The company aims to develop a long-distance electric bus operating model that can later be used on other high-demand corridors.
The service will operate with 13.5-metre all-sleeper AC electric buses, each offering 36 sleeper berths. The buses come with reading lights and charging points for passengers.
Fresh Bus will provide bedsheets, pillows and blankets at each berth. Passengers will also receive a snack box and a water bottle during the journey.
Safety features include fire extinguishers, emergency exits and hammers, CCTV cameras and speed-governed operations. Fresh Bus also says alcohol checks will be carried out for captains.
At full deployment, Fresh Bus expects the Bengaluru-Hyderabad service to handle around 18,000 passengers every month. The company is initially targeting around 80% occupancy, with mature occupancy expected to reach approximately 90%.
Fresh Bus currently operates more than 80 buses across 18 routes. According to the company, it has served 25.6 lakh passengers and currently operates 13 routes. It plans to add more Bengaluru-Hyderabad routes as its electric intercity network grows.
Tickets for the new service will be available through the Fresh Bus app and website, along with leading online travel agencies.
The Bengaluru-Hyderabad launch is part of Fresh Bus' broader plan to expand electric intercity transportation across South India. The company is focusing on building a scalable operating model for longer-distance electric bus services, supported by charging infrastructure and passenger-focused amenities.
The new route could also provide Fresh Bus with operational experience in managing electric buses over distances exceeding 600 km, which can support its planned expansion into other high-demand corridors.
Fresh Bus is therefore using the Bengaluru-Hyderabad corridor as its first major step into long-haul electric intercity travel, combining sleeper-bus comfort with ultra-fast charging infrastructure.

Fresh Bus Bengaluru-Hyderabad electric sleeper service marks a major expansion from shorter intercity routes to journeys exceeding 600 km. With 36-berth AC buses, passenger amenities, safety measures and ultra-fast charging halts, the company is testing a model for long-distance electric travel. Fresh Bus plans to build on this experience by adding more routes between the two cities and expanding its electric intercity network across South India.
