Force Motors has marked a major achievement by producing its 100,000th engine at its engine assembly facility in Chennai. The milestone celebrates ten years of partnership between Force Motors and BMW Group India. This engine is made for a BMW X5. This collaboration is based on shared goals of engineering accuracy and boosting local manufacturing.

Event Attended by the Main Officials

Senior leaders from both companies were present at the celebration. The event was attended by Marcus Wollens, Vice President of BMW Production Network 2, BMW AG; Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai; and Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors Ltd. They praised the partnership and the plant’s achievements.

Marcus Wollens said the 100,000th engine reflects the strong cooperation between Force Motors and BMW. He praised the consistent quality maintained over the years. Thomas Dose pointed out that BMW’s Chennai plant continues to match global production benchmarks. Prasan Firodia, from Force Motors, said the ten-year journey shows the company’s commitment to supporting BMW’s operations in India.

Chennai Plant’s Role in BMW Production

The Chennai facility was established in 2015 specifically to produce engines for BMW cars made in India. It uses modern automation, digital tools, and strict quality control processes. This setup ensures the plant meets BMW’s international standards and supports the company's localisation strategy in India.

About Force Motors

Force Motors is a well-established automobile company founded in 1958 by Shri Navalmal Kundanmal Firodia. The company is now led by Dr. Abhay Firodia. It operates five manufacturing plants across India and employs over 10,000 people. The company builds light commercial vehicles and multi-utility vehicles, designed to meet the specific needs of different regions.

Key Partnerships and Global Reach

Force Motors is also involved in other global collaborations. It assembles and tests engines for Mercedes-Benz vehicles made in India. The Chennai facility, in particular, is responsible for powering all BMW models built locally. Furthermore, Force Motors has a joint venture with Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG. Through this venture, it manufactures Series 1600 engines used in power generation and rail applications around the world.
