FlixBus India Introduces Electric Bus Service on First Anniversary

FlixBus India celebrated its first anniversary by launching an electric bus service between Hyderabad and Vijayawada in partnership with ETO Motors.

Operations and Testing Phase

The company will initially deploy four electric buses on the route, with operations starting in the last week of February. A two-week test run will be conducted before the official launch, followed by a 12-week evaluation period to monitor battery performance and booking trends.

Service Flagged Off in Hyderabad

Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar flagged off the service at ITC Kakatiya in Hyderabad. German Embassy Counsellor Alexander Reck and FlixBus India Managing Director Surya Khurana were also present at the event.

Charging and Safety Features

Thunder Plus will provide charging infrastructure, including 240 KW fast chargers, at the depots. The buses will be equipped with dashcams, GPS, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for passenger safety.

Expanding Network and Growth

In its first year, FlixBus India has linked 200 cities through its tech-powered bus services. The company has over 400 connections in South India and 500 in the North, operating routes like Bangalore-Hyderabad, Chennai-Madurai, and Delhi-Lucknow. Monthly ridership has grown six times compared to the previous year.

Future Plans

FlixBus collaborates with small and medium bus operators, providing technology tools for network planning and revenue management. The company aims to expand its network further while ensuring service quality and passenger safety.
