Electric 3W L5 Sales Report May 2025: MLMM and Bajaj Auto Emerge as Top Choice

In May 2025, India’s electric vehicle (EV) sales showed mixed performance. The sales of passenger electric three-wheelers (E3W L5) increased to 14,988 units in May 2025, compared to 13,129 units in April 2025. In May 2025, cargo electric three-wheeler sales (E3W L5) increased to 2,425 units, compared to 2,422 units in April 2025.

Electric three-wheelers (E3W) are an important category of the electric vehicle (EV) market in India, as they offer affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly mobility solutions for both passengers and goods. In this news, we will analyze the sales performance of E3W L5 in the goods and passenger segments for May 2025 based on the Vahan Dashboard data.

E-3W Passenger L5 Sales Trend

According to Vahan Dashboard data, the E-3W L5 Passenger category sold 14,988 units in May 2025 compared to 7,480 in May 2024. The E-3W Passenger L5 segment witnessed YoY growth in sales.

OEM-wise Electric Three-Wheeler Passenger L5 Sales Trend

The sales figures for Electric Three-Wheeler Passenger L5 have shown some remarkable growth in May 2025. Here is the sales performance of Top OEMs in May 2025:

Bajaj Auto showed impressive growth by selling 5,871 units in May 2025 compared to the 2,215 units sold in May 2024. In April 2025, the company sold 5,131 units. The Y-O-Y and M-O-M sales increased by 165% and 14.4%, respectively.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility sold 5,449 units in May 2025, compared to the 2,932 units sold in May 2024. In April 2025, the company sold 4511 units. The Y-O-Y and M-O-M sales increased by 86% and 20.8%, respectively.

TVS Motor Company recorded a strong MOM growth of 31.2%, with 1582 units sold in May 2025, compared to 1206 units sold in April 2025.

Piaggio Vehicles sold 869 units in May 2025, which is lower than the 1,001 units in April 2025 and the 1189 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y and M-O-M sales decreased by 27% and 13.2%, respectively.

TI Clean Mobility sold 496 units in May 2025, which is lower than the 503 units in April 2025 and higher than the 330 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y sales increased by 50%, and M-O-M sales decreased by 1.4%.

E-3W Goods L5 Sales

According to Vahan Dashboard data, the total number of E-3Ws sold in the L5 Goods category was 2,425 units in May 2025 compared to 2,247 in May 2024. The E-3W Cargo L5 segment witnessed a growth in Y-O-Y sales.

OEM-wise E-3W Cargo L5 Sales Trend

The sales data for Electric Three-Wheeler Goods L5 in May 2025 shows varied performances across different brands, with some experiencing notable growth:

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility: The company sold 565 units in May 2025, which is lower than the 572 units in April 2025 and 585 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y sales and M-O-M sales decreased by 3.4% and 1.2%, respectively.

Bajaj Auto: The company sold 421 units in May 2025, which is higher than the 379 units in April 2025 and the 143 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y sales and M-O-M sales increased by 194.4% and 11.1%, respectively.

Omega Seiki: The company sold 330 units in May 2025, which is lower than the 329 units in April 2025 and 254 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y and M-O-M sales increased by 29.9% and 0.3%, respectively.

Euler Motors: The company sold 287 units in May 2025, which is lower than the 297 units in April 2025 and higher than the 244 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y sales increased by 17.6%, and M-O-M sales decreased by 3.4%.

Piaggio Vehicles: The company sold 167 units in May 2025, which is higher than the 141 units in April 2025 and lower than the 189 units in May 2024. The Y-O-Y sales decreased by 11.6%, and M-O-M sales increased by 18.4%.

Electric three-wheeler sales are growing well, especially in the passenger segment. Brands like Bajaj and Mahindra are doing better each month, showing that more people trust EVs for daily travel. The cargo segment is also growing, but at a slower pace, which means more support might be needed to encourage goods transporters to switch to electric.
