Daimler Truck pioneers road safety with Vision Zero, introducing advanced support systems to prevent accidents, and setting new industry standards.
Daimler Truck has introduced a new 270-degree fusion technology.

Key Highlights:
•    Daimler Truck introduces 270-degree fusion technology for enhanced visibility.
•    EU regulation mandates driver aids for safety.
•    Focus on all road users, not just drivers.
•    Vision Zero goal drives accident-free aim.

Daimler Truck is taking significant strides toward enhancing road safety with its advanced support systems, all in alignment with the ambitious goal of “Vision Zero”—aiming for accident-free driving. These cutting-edge systems prioritize the well-being of all road users. Let’s delve into the details:

270-Degree Fusion Technology

Daimler Truck has introduced a new 270-degree fusion technology for its sensors. This innovation significantly enhances all-around visibility around the vehicle.

These systems are now standard across all Daimler Truck model series, including:

•    The eActros 600
•    The new generation of the Actros L
•    Buses and touring coaches under the Mercedes-Benz and Setra brands.

Assistance Systems

Daimler Truck goes beyond legal requirements by incorporating advanced assistance systems:

•    Active Brake Assist 6
•    Active Sideguard Assist 2
•    Front Guard Assist
•    Active Drive Assist 3
•    Traffic Sign Assist

These systems play a crucial role in preventing accidents and mitigating the impact of inattentiveness due to fatigue, stress, or distraction.

EU General Safety Regulation (GSR)

Starting from July 2024, all newly registered trucks, buses, and touring coaches in the EU must comply with the updated GSR regulations.

These regulations mandate various driver assistance systems to enhance road safety for everyone—whether they’re driving trucks, buses, cars, cycling, or walking.

Focus on All Road Users

According to EU data, passenger car occupants, cyclists, and pedestrians account for approximately 70% of traffic fatalities in accidents involving heavy goods vehicles.

Daimler Truck’s commitment to Vision Zero aims to protect not only truck and bus drivers but also all other road users.

By prioritizing safety, Daimler Truck contributes to accident prevention and ensures a safer road environment.

Rainer Müller-Finkeldei, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Product Development, emphasizes that these safety enhancements align with their long-standing pursuit of accident-free driving. With these advanced systems, Daimler Truck sets new standards, safeguarding lives and promoting a safer transportation ecosystem.

CMV360 Says

Daimler Truck's adoption of the innovative 270-degree fusion technology and advanced assistance systems signifies a significant leap forward in road safety.

By prioritizing the well-being of all road users, from truck drivers to pedestrians, Daimler Truck is not only meeting regulatory standards but also demonstrating a genuine commitment to creating safer roads for everyone.

This proactive approach reflects a shared responsibility towards achieving Vision Zero and ensuring that every journey is as safe as possible.
