Blue Energy Motors Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Maharashtra government to establish an electric truck manufacturing facility. This facility, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 vehicles, marks the company's entry into large-scale electric commercial vehicle production.
Investment Plans and Job Creation
The company plans to invest Rs 3,500 crore in the facility. The facility will include research and development (R&D), a battery-pack production line, and a motor manufacturing unit. The project is expected to begin in fiscal year 2025-26. This will create around 4,000 direct jobs.
Focus on AI and Zero-Emission Trucks
Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, stated that the facility will produce zero-emission electric trucks using AI and machine learning technologies. The company, in partnership with Essar’s green mobility initiative, will also establish charging stations as part of the project.
Maharashtra: A main Hub for Electric Vehicle Manufacturing
Maharashtra has become a significant hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in India. The state government has introduced policies to attract investments in the EV sector, offering incentives for manufacturing units and the development of charging infrastructure.
