Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), part of Daimler Truck, has achieved a major milestone by delivering its 2,00,000th BharatBenz truck in India. BharatBenz began its journey in 2012, focusing on the needs of Indian customers. The brand offers a wide range of commercial vehicles, including trucks from 10 to 55 tonnes. These vehicles are used for many purposes, such as city deliveries, long-distance transport, and mining. BharatBenz also manufactures buses for passenger transport. Customers across India can access BharatBenz services through over 375 touchpoints, which include sales and service centers.

DICV’s Chennai Plant

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) runs its main manufacturing plant in Oragadam, Chennai. This large facility also serves as the company’s headquarters and houses its research and development (R&D) operations. The plant is spread across 400 acres (about 160 hectares) and features a modern test track. This allows DICV to design, develop, and test its commercial vehicles, including the BharatBenz range, all in one location.

DICV’s Oragadam Plant Supports Global Truck Production

The Oragadam production site of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) is an important part of Daimler Truck’s global manufacturing network. At this facility, four major truck brands, BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and FUSO, are built for over 70 markets across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Since the beginning of this year, DICV has been placed under the Mercedes-Benz Trucks segment within the Daimler Truck Group. This segment is led by Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
