Key Highlights:
Battery Smart, an electric vehicle (EV) battery-swapping network for two- and three-wheelers, has achieved a major milestone by completing 50 million battery swaps across its network. The company has grown to over 1,400 swapping stations in more than 35 cities across India since its inception.
Supporting 60,000 EV Drivers
Currently, Battery Smart's network supports around 60,000 drivers with its battery-as-a-service model. This model addresses key challenges to EV adoption, such as range anxiety and high upfront battery costs. Drivers can swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones in about two minutes, significantly improving efficiency for EV operators.
CEO Highlights Key Milestone
Pulkit Khurana, co-founder and CEO of Battery Smart, emphasized the importance of this achievement. He stated, "Reaching 50 million battery swaps is more than just a milestone; it reflects our unwavering dedication to ensuring that EV adoption is both accessible and affordable."
Expansion Strategy and Partnerships
Battery Smart has focused on partnering with local businesses to expand its network, especially in regions where charging infrastructure is limited. This approach ensures greater EV accessibility in these areas, contributing to the broader adoption of electric two and electric three-wheelers in the country.
Government Support for Battery Swapping
The completion of this milestone comes at a time when the Indian government is promoting electric vehicle adoption through initiatives like the PM E-DRIVE scheme. Recent guidelines released by the Ministry of Power for battery swapping further support the growth of the EV ecosystem.
