Bajaj Auto has filed a patent for a new electric three-wheeler, aiming to provide a safer and more reliable alternative to unbranded e-rickshaws. This move aligns with Bajaj's goal of offering cost-effective solutions to auto-rickshaw operators while ensuring better quality and safety.
Bajaj is targeting the D+4 segment, which is popular among auto-rickshaw operators for carrying more passengers and increasing earnings.
The patent design suggests a boxy structure, providing more cabin space than existing Bajaj three-wheelers.
Basic yet functional exterior design with circular headlamps and a wide windscreen for better visibility.
The battery pack is positioned under the driver’s seat, similar to other electric three-wheelers.
Passenger seating includes flat seats with simple backrests, ensuring a cost-effective build while maintaining quality and safety.
Better Battery Quality: The vehicle will come with a high-quality battery pack that offers a longer lifespan compared to unbranded alternatives.
Higher Range & Fast Charging: Bajaj’s electric three-wheeler is expected to have an improved range and quicker charging time. For reference, the Bajaj GOGO electric three-wheeler offers a 251 km range.
Stronger Build: A metal body and robust chassis will ensure durability and a good resale value.
Enhanced Safety: Features like hill hold assist, anti-theft alert, and park assist mode could be included, similar to Bajaj’s GOGO model.
Warranty & Service Support: Unlike unbranded e-rickshaws, Bajaj’s model will offer a proper warranty on both the vehicle and the battery pack, along with roadside assistance services.
With this new electric three-wheeler, Bajaj aims to compete with cheaper, unbranded e-rickshaws by offering a more value-for-money, durable, and safe alternative for operators. This move strengthens Bajaj’s presence in the electric three-wheeler market while ensuring better options for customers who seek quality, reliability, and long-term benefits.
