According to a regulatory filing, Atul Auto will integrate Exponent Energy’s OTO mobility platform into its vehicles. The platform combines battery systems, powertrain components, and vehicle software into a unified architecture. This integration supports both Exponent’s rapid-charging network and standard public or home charging infrastructure.
The rapid-charging system enables a full charge in about 15 minutes. Exponent Energy offers a warranty of up to 200,000 km for its battery systems. This warranty addresses concerns about battery life and operational durability, which are important for commercial vehicle operators.
The companies have committed to deploying at least 15,000 electric three-wheelers over three years. The partnership also includes support from Exponent Energy’s financing platform, Exponent One. This platform will provide financing options, insurance, and buyback structures to improve affordability and adoption among drivers.
Arun Vinayak, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Exponent Energy, stated that the mission is to make electric vehicles a better choice by addressing real barriers to adoption. He noted that Atul Auto’s manufacturing experience and understanding of the three-wheeler market make it a strong partner for scaling the mobility platform into OEM-integrated vehicles.
Neeraj Chandra, Managing Director of Atul Auto, said the collaboration would enhance the company’s capabilities in the electric vehicle segment. The partnership is expected to help both companies strengthen their positions in the growing electric three-wheeler market.
The platform, previously used in retrofit deployments, will now be available in new, factory-built vehicles. This move is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility solutions in the commercial passenger segment.
Exponent Energy’s rapid-charging technology aims to reduce downtime for drivers by enabling a full charge in 15 minutes. The system is compatible with both dedicated rapid-charging stations and existing public or home charging setups. The extended battery warranty of up to 200,000 km is designed to increase confidence among commercial operators.
The financing options provided by Exponent One are intended to address affordability, which remains a key concern for many drivers considering the switch to electric vehicles. The partnership between Atul Auto and Exponent Energy represents a significant step toward scaling up electric three-wheeler adoption in India.
