Key Highlights

  • New 320 HP and 360 HP heavy-duty trucks are coming.

  • Six-cylinder engines with high torque for faster trips.

  • Bus capacity to increase to over 20,000 units yearly.

  • Clean mobility is expanding with EVs, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen.

  • GST cuts are boosting CV demand.

Ashok Leyland is preparing to introduce a new range of heavy-duty diesel trucks equipped with powerful 320 HP and 360 HP engines. According to Managing Director and CEO Shenu Agarwal, these new trucks will help the company strengthen its presence in the commercial vehicle market, which continues to perform well this financial year.

Agarwal also shared that the company is confident about industry growth in the second half of the year and is working on boosting its R&D capabilities. This improvement will help the brand develop new products faster and answer the changing needs of transport customers more effectively.

Strong Six-Cylinder Engines for Heavy Loads

The upcoming heavy-duty trucks will feature six-cylinder engines that deliver high peak torque. This strong performance will allow drivers to move heavy loads more easily and complete trips faster. With quicker turnaround time, transporters can enjoy better monthly earnings and improved fleet output.

Built With Heavy-Duty Aggregates

Ashok Leyland is equipping the new trucks with next-level heavy-duty aggregates. These stronger components are designed to handle tough roads, long-distance trips, and continuous operations. This shows the brand’s clear focus on improving truck reliability, durability, and overall driver comfort.

Expanding the Clean Mobility Portfolio

Beyond diesel trucks, Ashok Leyland is also working actively on clean mobility technologies. The company already has:

This rapid expansion highlights Ashok Leyland’s long-term plan to offer greener transport solutions.

Focus on CNG, LNG, and Hydrogen Vehicles

Agarwal confirmed that the company is increasing its work on CNG, LNG, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. These options will help Ashok Leyland serve new customer segments looking for cleaner, low-emission transport. Still, diesel trucks remain in strong demand, especially in heavy-duty applications.

Bus Manufacturing Capacity Set to Rise

Ashok Leyland is also expanding its fully built bus production. A new advanced plant in Lucknow is set to open soon. After the full ramp-up of the Andhra Pradesh and Lucknow facilities, the company will be able to produce over 20,000 buses annually, compared to around 12,000 at present.

Demand for Fully Built Buses Growing

The company expects the demand for fully built buses to keep increasing as cities improve transport services and travel needs continue to rise across India.

Commercial Vehicle Market to Remain Strong

Ashok Leyland sees positive growth ahead for both the MHCV and LCV markets.

  • LCV demand is improving due to GST rate cuts.

  • MHCV sales may rise further with higher consumption and more infrastructure development.

GST Reforms Pushing Industry Growth

The GST rate cut from 28% to 18% has made it easier for buyers to purchase new buses and trucks. Agarwal added that reductions in GST for many product categories will increase freight movement, giving a further boost to the commercial vehicle industry.

Rising demand for fully built buses, GST reforms, and steady CV market growth together position Ashok Leyland for a strong performance in the coming months.
