5,903 construction equipment units sold in May 2025.
JCB leads with 2,395 units, 40.57% market share.
Tata Hitachi sales up from 98 to 164 units.
Ajax and Liugong report year-on-year growth.
Overall market drops 6.31% compared to May 2024.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the construction equipment retail sales data for May 2025. According to the report, a total of 5,903 construction equipment units were sold across India, compared to 6,301 units in May 2024, indicating a slight decline in overall retail performance.
This data has been compiled in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and is based on registration records from 1,385 out of 1,445 RTOs across India. Notably, the data from Telangana (TS) has not been included in this report.

JCB remained the market leader in May 2025 with 2,395 units sold. However, its sales dropped from 2,890 units in May 2024, reducing its market share from 45.87% to 40.57%.
ACE secured the second spot with 685 units, down from 751 units last year. Its market share dropped slightly to 11.60% from 11.92%.
Ajax improved its performance by selling 461 units, up from 438 units in May 2024. Its market share rose to 7.81%, reflecting growing demand for its products.
Escorts recorded 372 units sold, showing a decline from 503 units last year. Its market share fell from 7.98% to 6.30%.
CASE improved slightly, selling 178 units, up from 147 units last year. Its market share increased to 3.02% from 2.33%.
Tata Hitachi showed notable growth, selling 164 units compared to just 98 units in May 2024. Its market share rose from 1.56% to 2.78%, marking one of the strongest gains this month.
Caterpillar recorded stable performance with 159 units sold, slightly up from 153 units last year. Its market share rose to 2.69%.
Liugong showed significant growth, jumping from 89 units to 141 units, raising its market share from 1.41% to 2.39%.
Bull Machines sold 131 units, up from 107 last year. Market share increased from 1.70% to 2.22%.
Mahindra’s CE division sold 129 units, a rise from 106 units in May 2024. Market share improved from 1.68% to 2.19%.
Sales declined slightly for Schwing Stetter, from 113 to 109 units, with its market share adjusting to 1.85%.
This segment saw an increase from 72 to 103 units, growing its share from 1.14% to 1.74%.
Indo Farm also improved its figures, selling 93 units compared to 69 units in May 2024. Market share rose to 1.58%.
Doosan Bobcat increased sales to 62 units, up from 52, with a market share rise to 1.05%.

Volvo CE posted 62 units sold, improving from 43 units last year. Market share grew to 1.05%.
Smaller OEMs under the "Others" category collectively sold 659 units, slightly less than the 670 units sold in May 2024.
India’s construction equipment retail market saw a 6.31% decline in May 2025 compared to the same month last year. While JCB continues to lead, its falling market share indicates rising competition. Companies like Tata Hitachi, Liugong, and Ajax have shown notable growth and are gradually strengthening their presence.
As infrastructure development continues across the country, upcoming months may bring new opportunities and shifts in market dynamics.
