Key Highlights

  • A new greenfield plant is planned in India by 2026.

  • Pithampur plant capacity to rise by 20–25%.

  • Over Rs 1,000 crore invested in India operations.

  • Strong localization with 300+ Indian suppliers.

  • High single-digit growth expected in 2026.

The Indian construction equipment industry faced a challenging phase through much of 2025 due to delayed highway projects, diversion of state funds toward welfare schemes, and the transition to cleaner engine norms. However, CNH Industrial, the parent company of CASE Construction Equipment, sees this slowdown as an opportunity to strengthen its presence in India, one of its most important global markets.

According to Shalabh Chaturvedi, Managing Director for India and SAARC at CASE Construction Equipment, the slowdown was largely product-agnostic, impacting the entire sector. Despite this, the company is focusing on long-term growth by expanding manufacturing capacity and increasing localization.

Capacity Expansion at Pithampur Plant

CASE’s immediate priority is expanding its existing manufacturing facility at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. The plant currently produces around 9,000 to 10,000 units per year. Over the next 18 months, CNH plans to increase this capacity by 20% to 25% through a brownfield expansion.

This upgrade is aimed at preparing the company for an expected rebound in demand as infrastructure activity and rural spending gradually improve.

New Greenfield Factory Planned by 2026

Beyond the Pithampur expansion, CNH Industrial is planning a new greenfield manufacturing plant in India. The company expects to begin work on this facility in 2026 and is currently in discussions with several state governments to finalize a location.

While the new plant will primarily focus on the agricultural equipment side of the business, CNH expects strong synergies between its construction and agriculture segments. This move further underlines the company’s commitment to India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Ownership Structure and Product Portfolio

CASE, New Holland Construction Equipment (India) Pvt Ltd is jointly owned, with CNH Industrial America LLC holding a 50% stake and CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd owning the remaining 50%.

CASE manufactures a wide range of earthmoving and construction equipment in India, including bulldozers, angle dozers, graders, scrapers, levelers, mechanical shovels, loaders, and off-road dump trucks.

Financial Performance and Investments in India

For the year ending December 2024, CASE reported a net profit of Rs 187.2 crore, an increase from Rs 154.5 crore in December 2023. However, revenue declined slightly to Rs 2,282.4 crore compared to Rs 2,333.3 crore in the previous year.

Over the last five to six years, CNH Industrial has invested more than Rs 1,000 crore in its Indian operations. A large part of this investment has gone into expanding and upgrading the Pithampur facility, highlighting India’s growing importance within CASE’s global manufacturing network.

Strong Focus on Localization and Supply Chain Stability

CASE has built a strong local supplier ecosystem, working with over 300 Indian suppliers. Around 100 of these suppliers are already part of the company’s Global Strategic Sourcing Program.

This high level of localization helps protect the company from global supply chain disruptions, such as the semiconductor shortages seen during the pandemic. It also allows CASE to remain cost-competitive while reducing dependence on imports.

Outlook for 2026 and Beyond

Looking ahead, CASE expects high single-digit growth in 2026. A good, though extended, monsoon is likely to support farm incomes and rural demand, which accounts for nearly 60% to 70% of overall machine demand.

According to Chaturvedi, 2026 will be a year focused on consolidation and preparation, setting the stage for stronger growth in 2027. With expanded capacity, deeper localization, and a new factory in the pipeline, CNH Industrial is positioning CASE to ride India’s next infrastructure and rural growth cycle.

CMV360 Says

CNH Industrial is strengthening its long-term commitment to India by expanding capacity and planning a new greenfield plant by 2026. Despite a temporary slowdown in the construction equipment market, the company is preparing for recovery through higher localization, supply chain resilience, and strategic investments. With strong rural demand expected and infrastructure activity likely to pick up, CASE is positioning itself for sustainable growth in 2027 and beyond.
