In a significant step toward gender inclusion in the construction equipment sector, SANY India has successfully trained the first all-women batch of excavator operators at the National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Andhra Pradesh.

A total of 22 women completed the training programme and received certification in March 2026. The initiative was aligned with International Women’s Day and aims to promote skill development while encouraging more women to participate in India’s infrastructure and construction sectors.

Training Conducted on SANY SY120 Excavator

The programme included practical and hands-on training using the SANY SY120 Excavator, which was provided by SANY India to the training academy.

The course curriculum was designed by SANY India to reflect global operating standards and current industry requirements. Before the start of the programme, trainers at NAC were trained and certified by SANY India to ensure that the course followed the required operational and safety standards.

Certification Under IESC Framework

After successfully completing the course, the trainees received certification under the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) framework.

This certification is expected to improve job opportunities for the participants across infrastructure and construction projects in India. In addition, NAC will provide placement support to help the trained operators transition into employment within the construction equipment sector.

Initiative Promotes Inclusive Skill Development

The programme reflects SANY India’s commitment to inclusive growth and workforce development within the infrastructure ecosystem. By offering structured training, access to modern machinery, and industry-recognized certification, the initiative opens new career opportunities for women in roles where female participation has traditionally been low.

Industry Leaders Applaud the Initiative

Speaking about the programme, Sanjay Saxena said:

“At SANY India, we believe true progress is inclusive. By empowering women with world-class skills and certification, we are not only shaping careers but also strengthening India’s construction ecosystem. This Women’s Day-aligned batch symbolizes opportunity, confidence, and capability.”

Certificate Handover Ceremony in Kadapa

The certificate handover ceremony took place on 6 March 2026 at the National Academy of Construction in Pulivendula, located in the Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh.

The event was attended by Madhusudan Katragadda, Dealer Principal of Madhura Engineering Pvt. Ltd., who served as the Chief Guest and handed over certificates to the graduating trainees.

Encouraging Words from the Chief Guest

Addressing the trainees at the ceremony, Madhusudan Katragadda said the initiative marks an important milestone in empowering women in the construction equipment industry.

He noted that excavator operations have traditionally been a male-dominated field and that the programme represents a positive step toward changing this trend. He encouraged the trainees to continue developing their skills and explore future opportunities within the industry, including roles in operations, sales, and service engineering.

Trainees Begin Their Professional Journey

The graduating batch of 22 women expressed pride and excitement while receiving their certifications, marking the beginning of their careers in the construction equipment sector.

The event was also attended by Rakesh Mekala, Assistant Director of NAC in Kadapa district, along with faculty members and staff. Representatives from SANY India were present to congratulate the trainees and celebrate the milestone.

The programme concluded on a positive note, highlighting growing progress in gender diversity and inclusive skill development within India’s construction industry.
