Before sowing the Kharif crops in summer, farmers can rake in significant profits by deeply plowing their fields. Deep plowing eliminates harmful insects and pesky weeds, enriching the soil as they decompose into natural fertilizers. This method also minimizes the risk of crop diseases and pests. To incentivize this beneficial practice, the state government is offering an 80% subsidy to farmers for purchasing subsoiler machines.

The subsoiler machine is a vital tool for farmers. It facilitates deep plowing while breaking and loosening the soil. This machine, typically attached to a tractor, can plow deeper compared to conventional agricultural tools like moldboard plows, disc harrows, and rotary tillers. Its efficient operation not only eradicates pests and weeds but also enhances soil fertility, making it indispensable for field preparation and water conservation.
Under the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme, farmers can avail themselves of up to 80% subsidy on subsoiler machines. General farmers receive a 70% subsidy, while those from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and extremely backward classes enjoy an 80% subsidy. The market offers various brands of subsoiler machines, including Mahindra, John Deere, Fieldking, and more. Prices range from Rs 12,600 to Rs 1.80 lakh. To qualify for the subsidy, farmers must purchase from authorized sellers approved by the Agriculture Department.
Farmers stand to gain substantially by investing in subsoiler machines. These machines enable deeper plowing, leading to improved soil quality and reduced pest infestation. Moreover, they streamline land preparation, enhance fertilizer absorption, and facilitate drainage construction in water-scarce regions. By making farming operations more efficient, subsoiler machines contribute to increased profitability.
Farmers in Bihar can apply for the subsidy through the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme's official website (www.farmech.bih.nic.in). The application process requires registration on the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) portal. Only registered farmers can apply through the Agricultural Mechanization Software OFMAS. For further assistance, farmers can reach out to their Block Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director (Agricultural Engineering), or District Agriculture Officer.
By embracing the benefits of subsoiler machines and availing the government subsidy, farmers can enhance their agricultural practices, boost productivity, and secure a sustainable future for farming in Bihar.

The subsidized acquisition of subsoiler machines empowers Bihar's farmers to enhance agricultural efficiency, soil fertility, and pest management. By embracing this opportunity, they pave the way for sustainable farming practices, increased yields, and a prosperous agricultural sector, ensuring a brighter future for the state's farming community.
