The Tube Well Scheme 2025 is a state government initiative to help farmers install tube wells at a lower cost. Under this scheme, subsidies are provided based on the farmer’s category, reducing the financial burden of irrigation. The maximum grant available is Rs 91,200, allowing farmers to install tube wells at a significantly lower price.
The subsidy percentage varies based on the farmer’s category:
General Category: 50% subsidy (up to Rs 57,000)
Backward Class: 70% subsidy (up to Rs 79,800)
SC/ST Farmers: 80% subsidy (up to Rs 91,200)
For farmers in North Bihar, the subsidy applies to tube wells up to 35 meters deep. In South Bihar, where tube wells need to be deeper (up to 70 meters), higher subsidies are provided:
General Category: Rs 36,000
Backward Class: Rs 50,400
SC/ST Farmers: Rs 57,600

The Tube Well Scheme 2025 is available to farmers in Bihar, particularly in districts where micro-irrigation and makhana farming are practiced. These districts include:
Madhubani
Purnia
Supaul
Darbhanga
Araria
Katihar
Khagaria
Saharsa
Kishanganj
Both rayat (land-owning) and non-rayat (tenant) farmers can apply. However, farmers must have at least 0.5 acres of land to qualify.
Farmers need the following documents to apply:
Land ownership papers (for rayat farmers)
Lease agreement (for non-rayat farmers)
Genealogy certificate (if land ownership papers are unavailable)
Aadhaar Card
Caste Certificate
Land Ownership Certificate (in the farmer’s or family head’s name)
Passport-sized photograph
Photograph of the tube well location
Interested farmers can apply online through the official Bihar Government website:horticulture.bihar.gov.in. After submission, the application will be reviewed by district officials and agricultural engineers.
