In a significant relief for soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has announced the dates for purchasing soybeans at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). With falling market prices causing concern for farmers, this decision is expected to bring much-needed support. Here's everything you need to know about the new dates, the registration process, and the MSP rate for soybeans.
Farmers can begin registering to sell their soybean crop at MSP from 25 September to 15 October 2024. The state government has extended the registration deadline, originally set for October 4, to give farmers additional time. Registration is mandatory to sell soybeans at MSP, ensuring that farmers can get the right price for their produce.

Soybean purchases at MSP will commence on 25 October 2024 and continue until 31 December 2024. The state government has set up over 20 district-wise purchasing centers across Madhya Pradesh, where registered farmers can sell their soybean crops.
The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for soybeans in the 2024-25 season has been set at ₹4892 per quintal, which is ₹292 higher than the previous year’s rate of ₹4600 per quintal. This MSP increase aims to offer better financial returns to soybean farmers.
While the increase in MSP is welcomed, many farmers feel it is insufficient. They are advocating for a higher rate of ₹6000 per quintal, mentioning the rising costs of production and inflation. However, the government has clarified that the purchase will strictly be at the MSP rate set by the Central Government.

Farmers have several options for free registration, including:
Special arrangements have been made for the registration of Sikmi/Sharecropper/Kotwar and Forest Pattadhari farmers. These farmers can register only at cooperative societies and cooperative marketing centers, and their verification will be conducted by the Revenue Department.
Farmers must provide the following documents to register:
During registration, Aadhaar verification is mandatory. It can be done via an OTP sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar or through biometric authentication. The farmer’s name on the land records must match the Aadhaar name. If there's a mismatch, the registration will need verification from the Tehsil office.
This announcement offers hope to soybean farmers as they gear up for the MSP procurement process. Timely registration is crucial to ensure they can benefit from the government’s support and receive fair compensation for their produce.
