The PM Kusum Yojana is providing a significant opportunity for farmers to install solar pumps in their fields with up to 90% subsidy. This scheme aims to make irrigation more accessible and affordable, particularly during the Kharif season.

What is PM Kusum Yojana?

PM Kusum Yojana, or Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyanis a government initiative designed to help farmers with the installation of solar pumps in their fields. The scheme provides financial support, allowing farmers to install solar pumps by paying just 10% of the total cost. For farmers belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Vantangiya, and Musahar communities, the subsidy can go up to 100%.

Subsidy Details on Solar Pumps

Under the PM Kusum Yojana, the central government offers a 30% subsidy, while the state government provides an additional subsidy. For SC/ST farmers and certain other categories, the state government provides a 70% subsidy, totaling 100% support. Farmers from other categories receive a combined 90% subsidy, with 60% from the state and 30% from the central government.

  • Total Cost: ₹4,26,750
  • Central Government Subsidy (30%): ₹1,28,025
  • State Government Subsidy (60%): ₹2,56,050
  • Farmer's Contribution (10%): ₹42,675

7.5 HP Solar Pump

  • Total Cost: ₹6,23,909
  • Central Government Subsidy (30%): ₹1,87,173
  • State Government Subsidy (60%): ₹3,74,345
  • Farmer's Contribution (10%): ₹62,391

Required Documents for Application

Farmers interested in applying for the subsidy need to prepare the following documents:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Residence certificate
  • Land ownership documents (Khasra Khatauni)
  • Bank account details (copy of passbook)
  • Bank draft for the farmer's contribution

How to Apply for the Solar Pump Subsidy

Farmers can apply for the solar pump subsidy by visiting the official UP NEDA website at upnedakusumc1.in. The application process requires uploading the necessary documents and a bank draft of the farmer's contribution. After submission, the department will verify the existing diesel pump in the field, and upon successful verification, the solar pump connection will be provided. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with the last date to apply being August 15, 2024.
