Aadhaar-based e-KYC is mandatory.
11 crore farmers benefited so far.
New Farmer ID Registry under development.
The central government has finally announced the date for the much-awaited 21st installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the next installment on 19 November 2025, giving relief to crores of farmers across the country. More than 9 crore farmers receive ₹2,000 every four months under this income-support scheme, which provides ₹6,000 per year directly to their bank accounts.

This time, farmers in most states will get the installment through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on November 19.
However, farmers from a few states will not receive the 21st installment now.
Farmers in the following states already received their installment earlier due to flood-related emergencies:
Punjab
Himachal Pradesh
Uttarakhand
Jammu & Kashmir
A recent government update also highlighted that over ₹3.7 lakh crore has been transferred so far to more than 11 crore farmer families, making PM-Kisan one of India’s largest DBT programs.
PM Kisan, launched on 24 February 2019, has shown strong participation from women.
More than 25% of all beneficiaries are women farmers, reflecting the scheme’s contribution to women’s financial empowerment.
The government has also introduced major digital reforms to make operations smoother:
Aadhaar-based verification
e-KYC
PM-Kisan mobile app
Kisan-eMitra AI chatbot
These steps have helped eliminate middlemen, ensuring direct and uninterrupted delivery of benefits.
Since Aadhaar verification is mandatory, farmers must complete e-KYC to continue receiving installments.
The government now offers three methods for e-KYC:
OTP-based
Biometric-based
Facial authentication
With the mobile app and face authentication feature, a farmer can now complete KYC for themselves and even for nearby farmers from home.
New options on the Farmer’s Corner section of pmkisan.gov.in also help farmers:
Know Your Status to check registration and payment status
Easier CSC enrollment
Option to open an Aadhaar-linked bank account through India Post Payments Bank
A modern grievance system is now available on:
PM Kisan Portal
CPGRAMS
Additionally, the Kisan-eMitra chatbot, available in 11 languages, offers:
24×7 assistance
Voice-based access
Information on application, payment, and status
Automatic language and scheme identification
This system ensures quick help for farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture is developing a Farmer ID Registry. This will reduce the need for multiple documents and applications for different schemes.
Once implemented, farmers can access government benefits faster and more easily, ensuring better targeting and transparency.
A study by the International Food and Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) showed strong positive outcomes:
Reduced dependence on loans
Increased farm investment
Higher risk-taking capacity
Better support for education, health, and household needs
The scheme is helping strengthen rural economic stability.

The PM Kisan Yojana continues to strengthen rural families by offering timely financial assistance and transparent digital processes. With the 21st installment scheduled for November 19, farmers across most states will benefit directly through DBT. Features like Aadhaar-based e-KYC, the PM-Kisan app, and the Kisan-eMitra chatbot are making the scheme more efficient. The upcoming Farmer ID Registry will further simplify access to all agricultural welfare schemes.
