Gujarat increases PMAY-G subsidy to ₹1.70 lakh.
₹98,000 from state and ₹72,000 from central government.
Assistance to be given in four installments.
Only SECC 2011 and Awas Plus eligible families will benefit.
Target of 1.10 lakh houses with ₹550 crore budget allocation.
The Gujarat government has taken a major step under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) by increasing the financial aid amount for rural housing from ₹1.20 lakh to ₹1.70 lakh. This move is aimed at helping the homeless and weaker sections in rural areas build permanent homes.
This decision was made in view of the rising cost of construction materials and transportation. The announcement came after a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, further aligning with the goals of Gujarat’s Rural Development Scheme.
According to the Rural Development Minister, earlier, the beneficiaries received ₹1.20 lakh in three parts. But now, considering inflation and construction challenges, the amount has been raised to ₹1.70 lakh. Out of this, ₹98,000 will be contributed by the Gujarat government and ₹72,000 by the central government.
To improve the fund disbursement process, the state has now decided to provide the ₹1.70 lakh assistance in four installments:
₹30,000 at the time of house approval
₹80,000 when construction begins
₹50,000 during roof casting
₹10,000 after house completion
This amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary's bank account.
Only eligible rural families of Gujarat will benefit from this increased subsidy. The scheme is applicable to:
Families listed in the SECC-2011 (Socio-Economic and Caste Census)
Families found eligible under the Awas Plus Survey
Rural households without permanent housing or those living in kutcha homes
For the financial year 2025–26, the Gujarat government has allocated ₹550 crore for this scheme. The target is to provide housing assistance to 1,10,000 beneficiaries. This move is seen as a major step towards a "Developed Gujarat" and improving rural infrastructure.
Residents of Gujarat who want to avail of this benefit must follow these steps:
Check Eligibility: Ensure your name is in the SECC 2011 or Awas Plus list.
Contact Local Office: Visit the Panchayat office or the Block Development Office.
Online Option: In some districts, you can apply online via pmayg.nic.in.
Applicants need to submit the following documents along with the form:
Aadhaar Card
Ration Card
Income Certificate
Land Ownership Papers (if applicable)
Once submitted, officials will conduct a spot inspection before approving the construction.
Beneficiaries must be listed in SECC 2011 or the Awas Plus Survey
₹50,000 additional support provided by the Gujarat Government
Total assistance of ₹1.70 lakh will be provided in four parts
Budget allocation of ₹550 crore for 2025–26
Target to support 1,10,000 rural families with housing assistance
Important Note
This increased subsidy of ₹1.70 lakh is currently only applicable in Gujarat. In other states, the existing amount of ₹1.20 lakh under PMAY-G remains unchanged, unless their state governments announce similar increases.
With this revised financial support, Gujarat aims to accelerate rural housing development and help thousands of families achieve their dream of owning a safe and permanent home.
