The Uttar Pradesh government has started the paddy procurement process for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26 from November 1 in the eastern parts of the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directions to ensure farmers face no problems during procurement and that middlemen are completely removed from the system.

The Chief Minister ordered that farmers should receive their payment within 48 hours of selling paddy at procurement centers. This will ensure transparency and speed in transactions.
This year, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy has been increased to help farmers earn a better income.
Common paddy MSP: ₹2,369 per quintal
Grade-A paddy MSP: ₹2,389 per quintal
Yogi Adityanath also directed officials to ensure adequate availability of fertilizers, seeds, and improved paddy varieties in every district. District Magistrates were asked to monitor procurement centers and maintain fair and efficient operations.
Registration for paddy sales began on September 1. So far, 2,17,625 farmers have registered for the current season.
In western Uttar Pradesh, 1.06 lakh metric tons of paddy have already been procured from more than 17,000 farmers.
The state has set up 3,920 procurement centers to make the process convenient and accessible for farmers.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to conduct an immediate survey of rain-affected crops and ensure farmers receive timely compensation. Payments must be made quickly and as per government rules to avoid delays in relief.
During the same review meeting, CM Yogi also addressed the issue of cow shelters. He instructed all District Magistrates to personally inspect cow shelters and make sure every cow receives proper fodder, water, and medical care.
Additionally, he emphasized the timely payment of honorariums to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, cooks, and other staff working in public welfare schemes.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has reported a major increase in nationwide paddy procurement at MSP this year.
Over 7 million tons of paddy have been procured so far, compared to 6 million tons during the same time last year.
In October 2025, total procurement reached 11.9 million tons, much higher than last year’s 8.185 million tons.

Punjab and Haryana have recorded remarkable increases in paddy procurement this season:
Punjab: 6.939 million tons procured till October 31, a 49% increase from last year.
Haryana: 3.812 million tons procured, a 22.7% rise over last year.
Both states began procurement early, in mid-September, due to early harvesting.
In Tamil Nadu, procurement has more than doubled compared to last year, reaching 7.51 lakh tonnes versus 2.89 lakh tonnes last year.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana together have contributed 4.05 lakh tonnes to the national tally.
The Central Government aims to procure 463.49 lakh tonnes of paddy for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26.
Last year (2024–25), procurement reached 545.22 lakh tonnes, with Punjab contributing 116.13 lakh tonnes and Haryana contributing 36.17 lakh tonnes.
Procurement in Haryana will continue till November 15, and in Punjab till November 30, though officials expect it to end earlier due to fast harvesting.
States like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh began procurement on November 1. The Madhya Pradesh government has asked the Centre for permission to allow state agencies to buy directly from farmers, ensuring better profits for cultivators.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry will soon release a Kharif crop estimate report to assess the country’s total paddy production.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has placed farmers interests at the top of his administration’s priorities. He has directed all districts to implement a fully transparent and accountable procurement system.
At the national level, the central government’s record procurement drive ensures farmers across India receive fair prices and timely payments under the MSP system.
