New Holland Introduces UltraFeed Pickup Head for Forage Harvesters

New Holland is a leading name in the agricultural machinery industry, known for its high-quality tractors. The brand offers sturdy and quality tractors with advanced technology. Through innovation and a customer-focused approach, New Holland delivers top-notch tractors, ensuring dependability and efficiency for farmers worldwide. New Holland has recently introduced the UltraFeed pickup head for its FR Forage Cruiser self-propelled forage harvesters, featuring a 13-foot working width. This inventive head is designed to manage larger windrows effectively, improving crop flow through the channel. The company stresses that the improved design maximizes both horsepower and cutter head capacity, ultimately enhancing operator productivity.

Josh Harkenrider, the commercial hay and forage marketing manager for New Holland, underscores the strategic engineering behind the UltraFeed head. Its development aims to improve the FR Forage Cruiser’s efficiency across various crop types, allowing for regulated and balanced crop flow that matches the harvester’s production capabilities.

As part of the redesign, a belt-driven driveline has been incorporated into the UltraFeed head, boosting capacity and uptime and prolonging the head’s service life. The driveline, along with a new auger design, ensures a smoother crop flow into the forage harvester’s feed rolls.

To further improve crop flow, a large roller wind guard has been added, compacting large swaths before the pickup reel, which is beneficial for handling light windrows. The addition of mesh at the top of the head enables operators to observe crop flow into the FR Forage Cruiser, with optional LED lights for improved visibility.

In an effort to simplify routine maintenance, an optional auto greasing system can be attached to the UltraFeed head, decreasing maintenance time along with new tine hardware. Melissa Kelly, the livestock and dairy segment lead for New Holland, emphasizes significant throughput enhancements across various crop conditions and cut lengths based on extensive testing by the product validation team. The UltraFeed pickup head was officially revealed at the 2024 World Ag Expo in Tulare, California, and will be displayed at the upcoming 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. New Holland’s dedication to optimal machine performance with minimal downtime and maintenance reflects its legacy in self-propelled forage harvesters.
