Mahindra to Set Up Largest Auto & Tractor Plant in Nagpur

Key Highlights

  • The largest integrated auto and tractor plant in Nagpur.

  • Annual capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors.

  • ₹15,000 crore investment planned over 10 years.

  • 1,500-acre main plant with a 150-acre supplier park.

  • Strong boost to jobs and regional development.

Mahindra Group has announced plans to set up its largest integrated automotive and tractor manufacturing plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This major project marks a big step in expanding the company’s production capacity and strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Massive Production Capacity Planned

The upcoming plant will be spread across 1,500 acres in Nagpur. Once fully operational, it will have the capacity to manufacture more than 5 lakh vehicles and around 1 lakh tractors every year. This makes it one of the biggest auto and tractor manufacturing facilities in the country.

Strategic Location and Supplier Park

Nagpur has been chosen due to its strong road and rail connectivity and easy access to both domestic and export markets. Along with the main plant, Mahindra will develop a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. This park will supply components not only to the Nagpur facility but also to Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik, helping improve logistics efficiency and support local suppliers.

Focus on Advanced Technology and Tractors

The new facility will manufacture next-generation vehicles, including electric vehicles, petrol models, and future technology-based products. It will also play a key role in boosting Mahindra’s tractor production to meet rising demand in India and international markets.

To support long-term growth, Mahindra plans to invest ₹15,000 crore over the next 10 years. The company will also acquire over 2,000 acres of land across three locations, including Igatpuri-Nashik, for future expansion needs.

Government Support and Job Creation

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the investment, highlighting its potential to generate large-scale employment, promote regional development, and further strengthen Maharashtra’s position as one of India’s leading manufacturing hubs.
