The Maharashtra government offers up to ₹2 lakh subsidy on tractors to support small, SC/ST, and first-time farmers.
Maharashtra Government Increases Tractor Subsidy for Farmers: Get Up to ₹2 Lakh Support

Key Highlights:

  • Tractor subsidy increased up to ₹2 lakh for SC/ST and small farmers.

  • Other farmers now get up to ₹1.6 lakh subsidy on tractors.

  • Power tiller subsidy raised to ₹1 lakh for SC/ST farmers.

  • Women and first-time tractor buyers get preference.

  • Apply via the MahaDBT portal, CSC, or the Agri department office.

The Maharashtra government has announced major relief for farmers by increasing subsidies on tractors and power tillers under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission. This move aims to empower farmers, boost agricultural productivity, and make modern equipment more accessible to small and marginalized farmers.

₹2 Lakh Subsidy on Tractor Purchase for Maharashtra Farmers

To help farmers become self-reliant and reduce the burden of rising equipment costs, the Maharashtra government has now increased the subsidy on tractors. Under this new update:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Smallholder Farmers (those owning at least 1 acre of land) were earlier getting a subsidy of up to ₹1,00,000 for a 20 HP tractor.
    Now increased to ₹2,00,000

  • Other Farmers were earlier eligible for a subsidy of ₹75,000
    Now increased to ₹1,60,000

This means even farmers who could not afford to buy a tractor earlier can now plan to buy one with a significantly reduced financial burden.

Increased Subsidy on Power Tillers

Apart from tractors, the government has also increased the subsidy on power tillers, which are highly useful for small-scale farming operations.

  • SC/ST Farmers: Subsidy increased from ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000

  • Other Farmers: Subsidy increased from ₹65,000 to ₹80,000

This decision will encourage farmers with smaller landholdings to invest in better tools for their farming needs.

Who Can Apply for This Tractor Subsidy in Maharashtra?

The scheme benefits several farmer categories, with special preference given to:

  • Smallholder Farmers (Minimum 1 acre of land)

  • SC/ST Farmers

  • Women Farmers

  • Farmers purchasing a tractor for the first time

How to Apply for the Subsidy?

There are multiple ways farmers can apply for the subsidy:

  1. Online: Visit the official Maharashtra agriculture department portal: MahaDBT

  2. Common Service Centers (CSCs): Go to your nearest CSC for assistance with the application.

  3. Agriculture Department Office: Visit your district's Agriculture Department Office for more details and help with the process.

  4. Required Documents:
Make sure to have the following ready:

    • Aadhar Card

    • Land ownership documents

    • Other necessary ID and land details as requested

A Step Towards Empowering Farmers

This increase in subsidy is a welcome step by the Maharashtra government. It will:

  • Make tractors and power tillers more affordable

  • Improve farming efficiency and productivity

  • Help small and marginal farmers access modern equipment

  • Encourage the adoption of advanced farming methods

Farmers across the state are expected to benefit from this initiative, especially those who have struggled to purchase machinery due to financial constraints.

The subsidy amount may vary in other states depending on the farmer category, land size, and the model of equipment selected. For farmers outside Maharashtra, it is advised to check the official agriculture department website of their respective states for specific subsidy details and eligibility.
