The Tractor and Mechanization Association (TMA), the apex industry body representing India’s tractor and farm mechanization sector, has appointed G. S. Grewal as its President for the 2026-28 term. The announcement was made during the TMA Annual General Meeting and Annual Business Session held in New Delhi.
Grewal brings more than 36 years of experience in the tractor and agricultural machinery industry and is expected to play an important role in strengthening cooperation, policy discussions, technology adoption and sustainable farm mechanization in India.
G. S. Grewal is a senior business leader with over 36 years of experience across sales, marketing, dealer development, customer support and business management in the tractor and agricultural machinery sector.
He currently serves as Chief Advisor at Escorts Kubota Limited. Earlier, he was the Managing Director of Kubota Agricultural Machinery India.
Over the course of his career, Grewal has worked closely with farmers, customers, dealers, industry stakeholders and policymakers. This experience has given him a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Indian agriculture and the farm mechanization industry.
Grewal is also involved in leadership development, coaching and mentoring future leaders. He is the author of “Leader as a Coach.”
Speaking about his appointment, Grewal said that taking responsibility as TMA President is an honour. He highlighted that Indian agriculture is undergoing an important transformation, with farm mechanization expected to play an increasingly significant role in improving productivity, efficiency and sustainability.
During his tenure, Grewal aims to work closely with TMA members, the government, policymakers and other stakeholders. His focus will be on improving cooperation across the industry and responding to the changing requirements of Indian farmers.
He also emphasised the importance of working together with a common purpose and plans to build on the contributions of previous TMA leaders while further strengthening the association as a collective voice for the tractor and farm mechanization industry.
Under Grewal’s leadership, TMA will focus on strengthening its role as a platform for industry cooperation, policy discussions, technology, innovation and sustainable mechanization.
The association will also continue working towards the development of India's agricultural machinery sector and creating a supportive environment for its long-term growth.
TMA will work with member companies, government bodies and other key stakeholders to address industry requirements and support the wider adoption of modern agricultural machinery and technologies.
India remains one of the world's largest tractor markets, while farm mechanization is expanding across different crops, regions and farming activities.
Several factors are expected to increase the importance of mechanization in the coming years. These include labour challenges, changing farming practices, technological advancements and the growing need for sustainable farming solutions.
Against this backdrop, the tractor and agricultural machinery industry is likely to play a larger role in improving farm efficiency and supporting the changing needs of Indian agriculture.
