Dust storms likely in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and UP.
Heatwaves expected in Odisha and West Bengal.
Thunderstorms forecast for Kerala, Telangana, and Bihar.
Delhi to see cloudy skies and light rain this week.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD)has issued an important weather update forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, dust storms, and heatwaves in many regions of India this week. While some states will get relief from the summer heat, others will continue to face extreme weather conditions.
The northeastern states are set to experience consistent rainfall over the next seven days.
June 4-5: Assam and Meghalaya will receive moderate to very heavy rainfall, especially in isolated areas.
June 4: Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may also get isolated heavy rainfall.
June 4-9: Light to moderate rainfall is expected daily across the entire Northeast region.
Localized flooding and waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas, though the rain will help maintain pleasant temperatures.
A western disturbance and multiple cyclonic circulations will affect northwest India.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Wind speeds of 40-70 kmph may accompany these events.
Himachal Pradesh may see hailstorms and strong thundersqualls.
Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, and UP are likely to face dust storms and high winds.
Heavy rainfall is also predicted in parts of Uttarakhand, Haryana, and West UP.
People in these regions are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and dust storms.
The weather will turn unstable in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha.
June 4:
Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal will experience thunderstorms with squally winds up to 70 kmph.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal may face flash flood risks due to heavy rain.
June 4-7: MP, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh will get light to moderate rain with winds up to 50 kmph.
People in flood-prone hilly areas should take precautions during heavy rainfall.
The pre-monsoon season is setting in across southern India.
June 4: Kerala and Coastal Karnataka will get moderate to isolated heavy rainfall along with lightning and winds up to 40 kmph.
June 4 - 5: Thunderstorms and light rain are expected in Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Interior Karnataka.
Farmers in the region are advised to secure crops and avoid outdoor work during storms.
Northwest India: A 2-3°C drop in temperature is expected over the next two days, followed by a 4-5°C rise in the next five days.
East India: Temperatures may rise gradually by 2-3°C, leading to humid conditions.
Odisha & West Bengal:
Heatwave likely in Odisha (June 4 - 6)
An isolated heatwave is expected in West Bengal (June 4)
Southern Coastal Areas: Hot and humid weather in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (June 4 - 5)
Stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight between 12 PM to 4 PM, especially in heat-prone areas.
Delhi and nearby areas can expect some relief from the intense heat.
Date | Forecast | Temp (°C) | Wind |
June 4 | Thunderstorm + Dust Winds | 35-37 / 22-24 | SW to NW, up to 25 kmph |
June 5 | Light Rain + Cloudy | 37-39 / 22-24 | NW, gusts up to 25 kmph |
June 6 | Partly Cloudy, Slight Temp Rise | 38-40 / 24-26 | NW, breezy afternoon winds |
While rain may disrupt evening travel, it will provide a break from Delhi’s usual June heat.
For Farmers: Delay outdoor farming activities during thunderstorms and secure loose items.
For Travelers: Check local weather updates before travel, especially in northern and eastern regions.
For Heatwave Areas: Stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and drink plenty of water.
For Coastal Residents: Prepare for gusty winds and possible power cuts during thunderstorms.
This week’s weather will bring a mix of relief and challenges across India. While rainfall and storms will cool some regions, heatwaves and dust storms will affect others. Stay updated with IMD alerts, take safety precautions, and plan your daily activities accordingly to stay safe and avoid weather-related disruptions.
