Government Launches ₹25 Lakh Subsidy Scheme to Boost Agri-Business Opportunities

The government is offering a golden opportunity for youth, farmers, students, and entrepreneurs to earn through farming and agribusiness. A subsidy of up to ₹25 lakh is being provided for agriculture-based startups, processing units, and farming-related projects. This initiative is being run through the Agribusiness Incubation Center (ABIC) at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

Three Programs for Support

As per Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice Chancellor of HAU, the ABIC Center is offering support under three different programs:

  1. Student Welfare Program

  2. Pehal

  3. Safal 2025

These programs are designed to promote entrepreneurship through training in marketing, networking, licensing, technology, funding, patents, and trademarks.

₹5 Lakh Grant for Students Under Student Welfare Program

This program is meant specifically for students currently enrolled in any educational institution. Selected students will receive:

  • One-month training

  • A lump-sum grant of up to ₹5 lakh

This initiative will help students become self-employed and future entrepreneurs.

₹25 Lakh Subsidy Under "Safal 2025" Program

Under this scheme, selected candidates will receive:

  • One-month training

  • A grant of up to ₹25 lakh

  • The grant will be disbursed in two installments

In the last 6 years, around ₹9 crore has already been sanctioned to 73 startups through this initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Extra Benefits for Women Entrepreneurs

To promote women-led businesses, the Government of India has introduced an additional 10% grant for female entrepreneurs. This support aims to make women financially independent and active contributors to the agriculture sector.

Scope of Business Ideas Supported

Participants can explore business ideas in:

  • Processing and value addition

  • Packaging and branding

  • Agri-servicing and supply chain

  • Any agriculture-related startup or innovative business idea

The focus is to turn job seekers into job creators and promote self-reliance in the agricultural economy.

How to Apply for the ₹25 Lakh Grant

Here’s how you can apply for the grant:

  • Visit: hau.ac.in

  • Fill the application form with your agri-business idea (Application is free)

  • If shortlisted, attend a one-month training at HAU

  • After training, your idea will be presented to the Ministry panel

  • Selected candidates will receive the grant
