Max seed limit for 2 hectares per farmer.
The Uttar Pradesh government is giving a big relief to farmers by offering 50% subsidy on Kharif crop seeds. This includes paddy, urad, arhar, moong, and dhaincha seeds. With this step, the government aims to boost agricultural productivity and reduce the burden on farmers ahead of the Kharif sowing season.

Earlier, farmers had to pay the full price for seeds and wait months to get the subsidy credited to their bank accounts. Now, the government has launched an “at-source subsidy” system. Under this new method, farmers will pay only 50% of the fixed seed price upfront, and the rest will be covered instantly by the government. This will save farmers from long waiting periods and financial strain.
Farmers can buy these certified seeds from government seed warehouses located in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. The seeds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advised to visit the warehouses early to avail the benefit.
Below is a detailed list of seed prices set by the UP government for 2025 and the amount farmers will need to pay after the 50% subsidy:
Crop Name | Original Price (₹/kg) | Price After 50% Subsidy (₹/kg) |
Coarse Paddy | ₹44.88 | ₹22.44 |
Fine Paddy | ₹45.09 | ₹22.54 |
Basmati Paddy | ₹61.38 | ₹30.69 |
Urad (Black Gram) | ₹145.20 | ₹72.60 |
Moong (Green Gram) | ₹116.85 | ₹58.43 |
Arhar (Pigeon Pea) | ₹171.42 | ₹85.71 |
Dhaincha | ₹116.00 | ₹58.00 |
Farmers can thus buy high-quality seeds at half the market price, directly benefiting from government support.
Only registered farmers of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for this scheme. To get the benefit:
Farmers must be registered on the UP Kisan Transparent Portal (agriculture.up.gov.in).
A valid Aadhaar card is required during seed purchase.
Seeds will be given for a maximum of 2 hectares of land per farmer.
The government’s goal is to ensure farmers get access to high-quality certified seeds at a lower cost. This will help:
Increase crop productivity
Lower input costs
Improve disease resistance in crops
Boost overall farmer income
Visit the nearest government seed warehouse early to buy seeds, as availability is based on first-come, first-served.
Register on the Transparent Portal if you haven't done so yet.
Carry your Aadhaar card during seed purchase.
This is a great opportunity for farmers to save money and ensure better yields during the Kharif season. Don’t delay, register and collect your seeds soon!
