Zingbus expands its electric bus fleet using an operator-led model, offering technology support, improving occupancy, and targeting 1,000+ EVs with major emission reduction benefits.
Zingbus Unveils Game-Changing Operator Model to Rapidly Expand Its Electric Bus Fleet Across India

Key Highlights

  • 250+ operators onboard.

  • Higher NPS and occupancy for EV buses.

  • Target of 1,000+ electric buses.

  • 36,000 tons of annual emission cut.

  • 200+ cities and 6M+ journeys.

Zingbus, a leading intercity smart mobility platform in India, is scaling its electric vehicle (EV) journey with a new operator-led partnership model. Instead of following the traditional Company-Owned, Company-Operated (COCO) setup, Zingbus is now empowering regional operators by giving them access to advanced technology, smart tools, and an EV-ready operating system. This approach makes it easier and more affordable for operators to shift to electric buses.

A New Model for EV Adoption

Zingbus has moved away from the COCO model and now supports independent operators with:

  • Revenue management tools designed specifically for EV fleets

  • A proprietary technology stack that simplifies daily EV operations

  • Guidance and resources to adopt electric buses with minimum upfront costs

More than 250 operators are already working with Zingbus, allowing them to enter the EV ecosystem sustainably and profitably.

Why Passengers Prefer Zingbus Electric Coaches

The performance data from the platform shows that electric buses on Zingbus routes record:

  • Higher occupancy rates

  • Better Net Promoter Scores (NPS)

Compared to diesel buses running on the same routes, EV coaches deliver smoother rides, lower noise, and a cleaner travel experience, resulting in stronger customer satisfaction.

Growth Targets and Environmental Impact

Zingbus Co-founder Prashant Kumar shared that operators are enthusiastic about transitioning to electric buses. He added that Zingbus EV-focused operating system is creating a “new growth curve” for the intercity travel segment in India.

The company aims to deploy 1,000+ electric buses, which could help reduce up to 36,000 tons of carbon emissions every year.

Today, Zingbus:

  • Operates across 200+ cities

  • Has completed 6 million+ journeys

  • Works with nearly 300 buses under its partner network
