The Tanga Nine+ stands out with its 'Autosafe' front structure, a first in the electric three-wheeler segment. Unlike the usual open or mirror-front designs, this closed-cabin style provides added protection from dust, rain, and collisions. According to the company, this feature increases driver confidence and enhances safety in crowded city streets.
The new model offers 670 mm of leg space and improved interior design, making long journeys more comfortable. With seating for eight, fleet operators can increase earnings per trip, especially on busy urban routes. The Tanga Nine+ uses a 2.5 kW motor based on BLDC/PMSM technology. It can travel up to 150 km on a single charge, suitable for daily city operations. Charging options include 25A and 45A, allowing users to choose between standard and fast charging.
The battery options have also improved, with capacities of 7.8 kWh and 10 kWh. The vehicle supports fast charging up to 45A, enabling quicker turnaround times for operators. The Tanga Nine+ will compete with models like Mahindra Treo, Piaggio Ape E-City, and Bajaj Maxima Z, but offers higher seating capacity and a distinctive front design.
Zelio E-Mobility plans to launch the Tanga Nine+ commercially in the second quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, between July and September 2027. The ex-showroom price has not been announced, but industry experts estimate it will range from ₹3.5 lakh to ₹4.2 lakh. A valid LMV – Transport driving license is required to operate this vehicle.
Zelio E-Mobility, established in 2021, has quickly become one of India's fastest-growing electric vehicle manufacturers. Managing Director Kunal Arya stated that last-mile mobility in India is evolving rapidly, and solutions like the Tanga Nine+ balance safety, capacity, and cost-effectiveness. The Tanga Nine+ was a highlight at the 7th edition of the RideAsia EV Expo, attracting attention for its Autosafe design and eight-seat configuration.
The Tanga Nine+ demonstrates Zelio's commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle sector. Its combination of advanced safety features, increased capacity, and extended range makes it a strong option for operators in India's urban transport market.
