ZELIO Ebikes has officially entered the e-rickshaw market with the launch of its Tanga brand. The first two models, Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS, are designed for urban and semi-urban commuters. Priced at ₹1,45,000 and ₹1,40,000 (ex-showroom) respectively, these vehicles aim to provide affordability and performance.
Durable Construction and Reliable Performance
The Tanga Butterfly is built with mild steel (MS), while the Tanga SS features stainless steel (SS) construction. Both e-rickshaws models are equipped with a 1200W motor and a 48/60V 135Ah Eastman battery, offering a 100 km range on a single charge and a top speed of 30 kmph.
The charging time is approximately 8 hours, with SMPS chargers that have voltage fluctuation protection for added safety.
Enhanced Safety and Ride Comfort
The e-rickshaws include advanced braking systems with front and rear drum brakes, along with a mechanical hand-operated parking brake. For a smoother ride, the front features 43mm telescopic hydraulic shockers, and the rear is supported by leaf spring shockers. The high-rigidity monocoque chassis ensures safety and durability on various road conditions.
Driver and Passenger-Friendly Features
Both models are equipped with convenient features like a wide front glass with wipers, LED cabin lights, FM radio with dual speakers, LED headlamps with DRLs, digital meters, and central locking systems.
E-rickshaw Accessories include a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and tool kit. The Tanga Butterfly is available in Red, Grey, and Sky Blue, while the Tanga SS is offered in Blue, Parrot Green, and Sea Blue.
Focus on Financing and Dealership Expansion
Easy financing options are available through AKASHA and TRY Wheels to help customer's in buying process. ZELIO also plans to expand its dealership network, targeting 400 outlets by March 2025, to provide dedicated support for customers in this new segment.
